Default NEW/ need help/ won't run

new to diesels, and i have been fighting with my truck past couple weeks, I have replaced oil cooler rings, oil, fuel filter, cps, and ended up being the fuel bowl heater, just ended up cutting it. it has ran for the past 3 days, then this morning went out to start it, started right up idled just fine reved it up and acted like it was cutting out around 2500 rpms. then i turned it off, then tried to restart and will fire a few cylinders but will not start. smoke is coming out of the tail pipe and where my down pipe and turbo meet.

Codes would be helpful but as the other said, the smoke says you;re getting fuel which means the PCM is working and the IDM is working cause you;re getting fuel and HPOP oil to the injectors. Sounds like a fuel problem so maybe the ICP or the restrictor on the side of the bowl up top by the regulator. It could be leaking or the ICP could be gummed up with meaning its leaking as well. You might want to disconnect the ICP (forward on the head just behind the hpop drivers side) and see if it idles just ok...the PCM will default to a set parameter of values dependant on the RPM's and about 450 PSI. If it's workable then it that. Also unsrew the fuel bowl top to make sure its filling up.

if after that it doesn't start... try disconnecting your high pressure oil line from one side at a time, and plugging the hose, to see if maybe you have a high pressure oil leak on one side. if you have an o-ring leaking, you will dump all your oil pressure and won't start. it will start on 4 good injectors on one side btw. I just had that problem. It would start if it was cold enough, when she got even a little warm, it would die. New o-rings, and she runs great again.

got it figured out the cps came unclipped, having a new issues leaking oil from the oil filter gasket... not a big leak, but big enough to concern me. i figured i would just buy a whole new assembly end caps and all but i can not find it. so does anyone know of anything i could do to fix this? also would not mind upgrading to the c- ring clip instead of the "pressed in" valve.

sorry for the long response, new to this stuff and just looking for the right kind of help.
