Help please.. 96-97 7.3 power stoke.. had been running for a few weeks with intermittent shut offs. But would restart. Parked last night for evening. Will not start. Engine turns, cranks. But no smoke at exhaust. No engine speed at tach. Oil is full, 1/2 or better tank of fuel. New fuel , water separator filter. New glow plug relay. Oh also had some blown fuses, replaced them. Fuel bowl is filling. Seems injectors are not actuating. I have no way to test ecm at driver side fender. Giving that tach is not reading at cranking . Could cam position censor be bad? When batteries are charged, has good cranking power. Engine kturns over as normal.. but tach is not reading. Does ignition solenoid have a tach post? Maybe im not getting power to cam position censor?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Have you rechecked fuses? Which ones were blown? Are you getting a wait to start light?

Yes, wts light comes on.. cant remember exactly what fuses, under the hood, smaller ones to the left of the power block, 3rd and 5th up from bottom. The cover does not list what circut they protect and i dont have an owners manual on this truck. After killing batteries three times and recharging. The truck finally came back to life. Drove to auto zone to check codes.. no codes are showing. I did replace water/ fuel separator and glow plug selonoid. Truck turns over strong, and starts but dies quickly. Idles at aprox 750 rpm while running but intermittently dies without warning, starts back now seemingly without issue. Water in fuel light remains on, even after draining and disconnect and reconnect of negative cables.

Everytime you disconnect the batteries, you are clearing any codes that might be stored... Have you load tested the batteries?

Next time it starts and dies, check the HPOP reservoir... Pull the little plug right on the top and stick something in it to check the level...
