Default Cummins guy asking ford questions.

Alright guys. I'll start out by telling you that I know absolutely NOTHING about the 7.3L PS other than they'll run forever. I just came into possession of this thing and wanna make it run a little better it's a daily driven work truck so I need to keep it reliable. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

It a '95 with an freshly built auto trans 225k miles. And yes. The stacks were the first thing to go.

Thanks guys!!

Depends on what you want to spend and do with it...

Gauges would be first,

3" down pipe to a 4" exhaust would be second,

Tymar or like intake...

Superchips programer if your going to stay stock or TS chip if your looking for a bit more.

Want to keep the cost down and I'm not looking to get crazy but this thing is kind of a dog right now. I'm probably gonna order my exhaust& intake Friday and see where I am. Next will probably be a Ts chip.

That too just kind of a given when running a chip. Are there any chips like a juice that have digital readouts?

for the 7.3 especially the obs i would just get the 6 position chip because they are proven and then go with mechanical gauges boost, trans, egt

Yes, i am forgetting which one it is but its an edge product i believe. I personally would skip that for some standard gauges and a ts chip... Also, you could look at getting a scangauge which is a nice digital gauge that shows what the pcm sees...

^^^^^ Aeroforce ScanGauge also scans for error codes, and lets you do PCM-based diagnistic tests such as an injector buzz test and cylinder contribution test.

I would still like to know how to make the scanguage read my codes on my 97 psd... works great on my dodge. That ts chip will definitely wake it up. I went with the stock, high idle, 50, 75, 100, 140 settings, it is switch on the fly, and pretty sweet

^^^^ Are you talking about the one called ScanGauge II, the rectangular one with the two-line display? Or the AeroForce brand round gauge? AFAIK, no one has been able to get any significant data from the OBS trucks with the ScanGauge II. If it's the Aeroforce brand you have, try contacting them; they should provide customer support to get your '97 to talk to it.
