Question Is the Ford Dealer Avoiding Warranty? I Cant Believe This

Ok, I have a 2010 F350 crew 4x4 with 6.4 powerstroke. Bought brand new and am the original owner (35,000 easy miles mostly highway) All of the scheduled maintenance has been performed by 2 local dealers. I have been purchasing my diesel (ULSC) from reputable companies that are high volume (shell-chevron etc.) As well, draining the water seperator at the FCM/lift pump every 3-4 weeks for about 1 minute.

Recently the WATER SEPERATOR light came on as I was driving, so pulled over to a parking lot and immediately drained it. Not very much water came out maybe half an ounce. The truck started again after this but the water seperator light would not go out even after trying to drain it a second time. Called the dealer where I bought the truck who asked me if it ran and told me to bring it in for service which I did and I explained what happened. I presumed the diagnostics (100.00 plus) would be covered under my warranty?

The Invoice reads as follows: Diag and report on fuel water seperator light coming on even after drained.drained the water seperator, found some water still in the seperator, Hooked up IDS to turn fuel pump on to drain fuel water seperator for 5 minutes, Also clear water in fuel DT Code P2269. Road test for 15-16kms plus time idling. Road test water in fuel light seem not come onagain, If waterin fuel light comes on again, fuel tank needs to come out to inspect for water in fuel tank

On the same invoice: performed the QC550 Service for 6.4 diesel maintenance included is the engine oil and filter. Total bill that day was 300.00 and I did not worry about the extra 100.00 plus for the diagnostics as I was just happy to get the truck back quickly.

When I came and picked up the truck the service advisor advised they had given it an extensive road test and were not able to get the water seperator light to come back on and that the truck was running fine now.

I DROVE ABOUT 4 MILES FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND GUESS WHAT... MY TRUCK DIES! This time the LOW OIL PRESSURE Light came on for a brief moment and that was it. I coasted to a stop and tried to start it but nothing. I called the dealer back and they told me they would have it towed back in.

I received a call from the dealer the next day telling me NO WARRANTY because of water and solid foreign material in the fuel sample they took from where? as they did not take out the fuel tank.

This second invoice reads as follows:Diag and Reporton crank no start as per tech diag see tech details (I gather this to be the comments on the previous incoice 4 miles ago?) Inspected verified, scan for codesretrievedP2911 and P0088, checked base fuel pressure, 4.5 psi, moniteredPIDS, no FRP, took fuel sample found excessive water and solid foreign material, removed upper filter found large water and dirt depositsin upper filter housing, engine damage occured due to water and dirt contamination, requires H/P pump, filters, tank cleaning, lines cleaned, base pump and injectors to maintain factory warranty
Requested to drain W/F seperator, clear codes and retest, drained bowl, cleared codes and will not start (???)

I thought to my self WOW! One of my Co-workers who has experience in the automotive field told me something is not right with this picture and recommended getting the truck out of that particular dealership and over to another one. I am in that process now and would greatly appreciate any input from anyone who can give some insight or has had similar nightmare experiences! Thanks so much!
Final footnote! I had to pay another 200.00 invoice and 150.00 for the dealer recommended towing company to tow my truck 15 miles! When the driver arrived to my property he was rude and made no apologies for the dealer who had left the batteries completely dead with all of the windows rolled down, And you bet it was raining too! Awesome Guys!

I'd be on the phone with ford customer service, not the dealer and it wouldn't be pretty.

Thanks, you see my point with the ok to drive it and then catastrofic engine failure! Especially considering that they were sharp enough to change the oil/filter which may very well have not been very pretty at all!

Yes! great idea. First it makes sense to give another more warranty friendly dealer a shot no? Or should I say Honest Dealer?

Still learning how this site works! Must say its great with lots of info and intelligent solutions to various problems! Reading some of the other threads I am amazed at what some people have gone through with their vehicles. Realizing my original thread is long and I do apologize for that, but I wanted to explain everything in the order it happened so hopefully any mechanics or other wicked gear heads on the site might tell me where the dealer started to go wrong here This is so frustrating! Please tell me if I am off base but when my truck went in the first time for the water seperator light issue would that not have been the time to change fuel filters or at least inspect the DAMN things!!! Yet the engine oil and filter is changed as part of the QC550 Service?? I do not know very much about the fuel system in my truck but the filter at the water seperator would seem to be a likely place to inspect would it not?? Now I'm almost wodering if there is some type of recall They did not tell me about for the High Pressure Pump at the engine? could it have been prematurely wearing out sending who knows what into the the rest of the engine and contaminated the oil as well, hence the recommended oil and filter change?? I mean why the hell would it just die 4 miles from the dealership after being in their professional ever caring hands. Please if anyone has an opinion on this or if I am totally wrong let me know I can take it and THANKS!!!! I love this site!!!!

I'll bet the dealer is going to say, that your fuel was full of water & that's what caused the damage

Yes thanks! they are saying that.. I cant get my head around the fact that on service #1 They extensively road tested for around 16 miles! and no light and no symptons of power loss or anything! I get in the truck and 4 miles down the road its a major horror show! The dealer assumes no responsibility here? They did not even pull the frame rail pump filter which is 1 ro 2 inches from the drain and takes 5 min. to take out! Am I being unreasonable here? All that diagnostic stuff is fine and all but at least check the damn filter! Also known as the cheaper repair perhaps???? Someone please tell me I am wrong on this so I can shoot myself!! And, Thanks!!

Now is when you call FORD HEADQUARTERS & tell them to fix it under warranty or you'll never buy another F O R D
