How many miles you have on your 6.4 PSD

I bought my 2008 F-250 brand new on 10/23/2008 & I now have 50,200 miles & i've only has a DPF light warning on the dash, but the next day it went away

chromehound 02-07-2012 01:01 PM

Mines a job 1 with 39xxx but I've only had it for a little over 3 months. Only issues since I've had it: clock spring in the steering column messed up the cruise, torn rubber boot on the steering, lines for what I think run the 4x4 kept popping out of their holders. Of course it's on its 3rd P/S pump since it was new but I haven't had any issues with that *knock on wood* and had something to do with the pass VC fixed before I got it.

gunman41mag 02-07-2012 03:09 PM

I have a JOB 2, & when the DPF code lite up, I drove it hard, like I stole it & the code went away:humm:

chromehound 02-07-2012 06:16 PM

The only time I've had anything DPF related was when I first got the truck and set it back to stock-I forgot the DPF was in my garage and it threw some codes, wiped codes put a canned tune on with DPF off and no more issue.

fletch0467 02-13-2012 10:53 AM

I have a 2008 F-250 Super Duty Ext.Cab XLT 213,000 miles stock. Previous owner was Enterprise Fleet Leasing, went through 6 radiators when they owned it. I am installing Coolant filter kit, CCV mod, DPF/Cat Delete with a tuner...have not made up my mind on tuner ...still looking. :humm:

WOW !!! That's a lot of miles on a DPF truck:humm: I've never had any issues with the radiator:nope: your truck must have been built before 8/2007:humm:

fletch0467 02-13-2012 02:35 PM

Yes, it was built 3/2007. Still have some concerns about removing stock parts and un leashing it after 213K miles....the tuner trans. re-learn is my BIGGEST worry :humm:

OK, Those JOB 1 had issues with the radiators, but FORD has a fix for them:humm:

I checked Oasis report. Last radiator replaced at 171K miles, previous owner had to pay 300.00 deductable, so hopefully it ok now. I am still installing the Coolant Filter Mod. and CCV mod also to go along with the DPF/Cat Delete and Tuner :hellox:

I now have 53, 500 miles on my truck:humm:

I just bought my truck on Tuesday, it currently has 29,506. It's a 2008 F-250 XLT 4X4. This is my first diesel and I'm really enjoying it. I read a lot about it before I bought one. I like this site too, I have learned quite a bit.

I would change the two fuel filters, the transmission fluid, & the oil & oil filter:tu:

Mdub707 04-20-2012 09:38 AM

It's not even due for a trans fluid changing yet is it? Fuel filters certainly wouldn't hurt and oil and oil filter is always a good idea.

The FORD MANUAL say transmission fluid change at every 30,000 miles:humm:

08AK6.4L 04-20-2012 08:07 PM

Cool, I appreciate it guys. That stuff was already on my mind. What are some other things to look at or change out? After I do a good overlook of it, that's when I'll start modding it. I was looking into DPF delete, EGR delete, intake, exhaust, and a tuner. What do you guys think?

AGAPETUS 04-22-2012 03:24 AM

My 08 Super Duty XLT was purchased in 2011 with 30,000 on her. I now have 60,000 miles. I had a lot of DPF errors, even to the point (4) where the truck just shut down and I had to tow it to Ford, who said there was nothing wrong with it and if it shuts down it will restart in an hour of two. No radiator issues in the time I have had it.

Now that DPF is deleted I have not had any issues with her.

gunman41mag 06-03-2012 08:59 PM

My 2008 6.4 has 55,379 miles & no problems:tu:

I bought my 08 F-350 Crew Cab used as a fleet vehicle from Canada with 27,000 miles on it 2 years ago. Now have 39,000. Only have seen the cleaning filter light come on twice, had to have it towed twice - a rear brake cylinder lock up and fail loosing all brakes, one battery failed under warranty and it wouldn't start, put a Banks 6 Gun Tuner, exhaust, & air filter on it in Mt. Vernon, WA and headed over the N. Cascades, unit failed just before we got into the wilderness and we limped back to Camping World with it saying one cylinder was out. Took off the tuner & it ran perfectly. First time the dealer's mechanic ever saw one fail. Today I had to replace the HVAC blower motor resister. Occasionally when I start it sounds like a fan is going at full speed, something whistles like crazy (probably the supercharger) occasionally after pulling my trailer and then sitting overnight. Keeps doing it even after warmed up, shut off, restarted. Sometimes stops for a few seconds but starts again - always one pitch, no matter the engine speed, moving or idling except it ocasionally pops up to a harmonic of original tone for a few seconds. VERY LOUD, it draws attention but has never done it when at the dealers for them to hear. Usuall gone the next day. This is my first diesel, and it pulls like crazy. I love most of it, just not the issues and the crappy mileage - about 10.5-11 pulling my travel trailer on the road, 11-12 city, and up to maybe 13.5 if you mix in more long stretches of open road. Goes down significantly when over 50-55 mph. I have a light foot so I'm not punching it.

gunman41mag 08-04-2012 05:15 AM

58,528 miles no issues:tu:

I have a 08 f350 with 106k on it. looking at buying a Spartan DashDaq tuner. ive read up a bit on it. has tunes for DPF on and off. plus if you have a warranty the spartan completely deletes itself off the comp. DPF delete will help with the mileage alot.

gunman41mag 09-08-2012 01:57 PM

My truck now has 60,067 miles still running fine:jump:

Just because it deletes itself off, you can still tell it had a program on the truckin a couple ways. One, it leaves a footprint any time you hook up to the data port, and the can tell the truck hasn't been going into regen like its supposed to

Posted because I'm bored.

gunman41mag 10-31-2012 07:49 PM

I bought my 08 last year in may with 63,000 miles and I now have 86,450 and I have not had any problems. My dad has a 08 with 223,500 miles, he has a transport company. He has had some small issues but nothing major, we think the dpf is finally clogging.

Well you have two options (1) buy another DPF (2) but a tuner with dpf/delete:humm:

PSD-BLACK-CLOUD 02-18-2013 06:49 PM

sawed off 02-24-2013 12:19 PM

Mines still a baby. Only has 26,000 miles on it. Runs like a top. Only problem is my antenna isn't working. :tu:

stovepipe699 03-01-2013 02:59 PM

My father has a 2008 model, 60 000 km or so, no problems. He had the DPF delete and a Dash DQ tune put on the truck when it was less than a year old, and it's been great ever since. It was horrible on fuel, (around 12 mpg) and now gets low 20's. I hope the 6.4 is a good engine, I've heard stories about some blowing up.

furd crew 03-01-2013 10:23 PM

Stock crew cab with 65000 no problems yet.:w2:
