The block is the same block i believe, the fuel system is no longer operated by the high pressure oil...not sure what the new system is all about but it is different. Jon will know more about this.

Yes it is common rail rather than the deadhead rail system of the 6.0.

Default To put it best

they used the same block and improved on all the faults of the 6.0. So in short they improved on the fueling system which doesnt depend on oil quality like the 6.0 and of course they have changed the turbo set up. A pcm is a pcm. Never had any issues with them on the 6.0.

I thought the 6.0 had problem with the heads because of the lack of head bolts? Did they just increase the stroke or bore it for the increase in displacement?

That front end is nothing but bad. I have always liked the interior.

Default Well

The head issue on the 6.0 could have been avoided with head studs, but then you would have to lift the cab or pull the motor to remove the heads. I have done them in chassis and with the motor pulled. The easiest way is to lift the cab but my old dealer wouldnt let us. But the real problem is the torque to yield bolts and yes they need one more row like the 7.3.
