Firm shifting
I jus got my sct Livewire back from gettin custom tunes put on it by IDP! The tunes are great! Since I'm new to all this stuff I'm wondering about the shifting aspect... From what I've read and heard you want firm shifting, this is what will make a tranny last longer. But how do I know what's too firm?? I'm used to the stock shifting for 4+ years so I am hesitant. Can anyone provide some input for me?

I have I think 5 or 6 transmission tunes, one is a race and one is soft, the others are firm early lock or stock lock of delay lock I think. So your sayin the tranny will kinda learn my new style and smooth out a little? How do I know if the shift is too firm? I don't wanna make my tranny go out quicker because of a hard shift. I am new to all this performance stuff I feel like an idiot but you gotta start somewhere

First, retrain your transmission by:
(1) Go from 0mph to 80mph with 1/4 throttle then come to a complete stop.
(2) Go from 0mph to 80mph with 1/2 throttle then come to a complete stop.
(3) Go from 0mph to 80mph with full throttle then come to a complete stop.
Don't be alarmed with hard or erratic shifts while performing the transmission retrain process because it's normal. Those three steps will retrain the transmission on the added HP's. After the previous three steps just drive how you normally drive and the adaptive learning of your transmission will figure out the rest.
