Look at 2008 F250 Carfax
Hey Guys,
I've been lurking for the past few months....found a truck I'm going to look at tonight. Can some of you 'xperts look at the carfax and tell me anything that stands out. I don't see anything on the service list that has me looking for the door.
Thanks in advance,
MT

I would take the VIN and go to the dealer and ask for the Oasis report, it's a report of all the warranty work done.
I would also see if it's had any of the udpates. Most 08's have had the radiator replaced, as they had a bunch of issues early on with it. There was also a short run of 08's that all needed injector replacement.
Based on the carfax (not sure how much I even trust it) it looks like it was taken care of. They changed the tires out at 100k+ miles, I know with my driving habits tires don't last anywhere near that long, they must have drove like an old lady.

Thanks for the advice. I got a bit more responses on a different ford forum, but I ended up purchasing the truck. The service manager at the dealership went through the entire service record with me; they did all the service and warranty/TSB work. Even passed the warranty period, the previous owner paid for new TSB's. The guy had everything done on the truck according to the "extreme conditions" (or whatever the term is) schedule and all the fluids were flushed regularly. The service manager made up a temporary "work order" and printed the service history out for me while the diesel tech went out and scooted under the truck to show me which coolant line was leaking so I could tighten the clamp and replace it when I get a chance.
I am currently searching for a dpf/cat to put back on it so I can pass emissions when/if I get a letter saying I need to stop in. I'm still not clear on if I dd yet....dealer said no, previous owner said not with certain plate, but the regs state otherwise....
I got the SCT TSX tuner updated to the latest firmware/tunes...and I'm getting 3mpg more than my old POS hand-me-down caravan!

I live in a county in which, I so far, believe I will be required to have an OBDII check every two years for registration renewal....according to the DOT website and how it is worded. I cannot however find anyone that has had to have this inspection, or definitive proof that I do not need to have it in the near future. I do not want to call the DMV or DOT asking questions, as it could possibly put me on someone's radar screen if I go prodding with specific case scenarios.
Now, I am not going to implicate myself; I do know the general statistics of having the OEM emissions equipment in functioning fashion vs. having an off-road use setup. So, in order to continually register this vehicle in the future for on-highway use at my current residence, I'm searching for used OEM emissions equipment to successfully pass this short biannual test and have a legally registered plate. The thing that sucks is exactly 7.6 miles down the highway I drive to work...I'm in a county where there is no emissions testing requirement....and I lived out that way until last Oct.!!!!
I will keep this thread updated as I go along in apparently, relatively uncharted waters....

That's why I stopped looking....and I was having almost no luck anyway. I never intended to keep it on, just a one day temporary thing to make the guvment feel good about themselves. I was at the DMV this morning for another truck and it has to have emissions testing, so that opened the door for me to ask about the regs...the guy at the counter said that 10,000# plates are exempt, so I'll look into that for next year since the vehicle alone is almost that.
