Default 6.0 gas mileage?

Just bought my 05 250 6.0 4dr 4x4. It's all factory and is getting 13.7 miles a gallon. Tire are about worn out and front end a little out of line. Also has slight injector studder till warms up then smooth as silk. Is that a normal mpg?

I get about 18 highway and 12 city in mine. Never did figure out what I get combined yet. But if I fill the tank up till you can see the fuel in the filler neck ( 38 gals). I roughly get about 550 to 620 miles per tank. I think the average is about 14 to 16 or 17 with these truck. So Id say your pretty close to average for combined driving.

With my SRL and Atlas40 tune, driving on a local stretch of hiway @ 60 mph, i have seen as much as 24 mpg. Typically i will see, with cruise control, 22 mph. In town on a friendly foot, i will typically see about 17 to 18. Loaded with the correct tunes, you can get decent mileage, you just cant be in a hurry. I tuned my truck to have fun though... Not too interested in mpg right now, especially since i work in the drilling industry.

I've never seen a 6.0 on stock injectors/turbo avg higher than 20 personally.

I get 15 avg all around driving in my truck, and it's one of the lightest cab/bed config's you can get...

I think a lot of the readings you read about on the net are from people who are either reading it off of the lie-o-meter in the truck, or not hand calculating correctly. Most don't know that you can't just fill til the pump clicks off and go... it's going to be off every time.

13.1 sounds low, but I have gotten that low in mine driving like an idiot on winter fuel.

You can get better mileage for sure, it shouldn't be stuttering like that in the morning, though it's quite common. Have the batteries load tested, then test your FICM. Test procedure at the top of the 6.0 page.

My mileage varies depending who I talk to;

Average Joe- 20-22mpg
Fellow diesel owner- (the truth) 17-19mpg
Hybrid owner- 24-26mpg

The biggest key is to keep your right foot off the skinny pedal (VERY difficult for a 6.0L owner who has a straight pipe and tunes )

Whitman, get the batteries load tested, then test your FICM. Report back when you do that.

When I was stock on 285s (33s) I was getting 14 in town 16~18 highway. These days, on 35s, I'm about 12~14 in town, 15~18 on the highway. Being that I'm on 35s, I have to use my claculator to hand figure my mileage.

I didn't think a 6.0 burned any gas
