Is an aftermarket intake a worthy investment? If so, what would you recommend?

Any aftermarket " cold air intake kit" isn't worth the money.

The intake manifolds are well worth their weight in gold.

While I'm not exactly familiar with how the 07 air intake box looks, I got positive results ditching the front of mine for more air flow. There is a HUGE debate about filters, I bought an AiRaid for the reusability of it, if you like the factory filter, leave it in, just ditch the front of the air box. Oh, a Zoodad cut out in the fiberglas ahead of the air box helps, too.

Aftermarket intake manifolds, those are pretty spendy because the only ones that I have seen are custom modified in a shop. They all look like they would work better than OEM. If I were in the market for one, I'd look into GoGo's with the COMPLETE EGR cooler delete.

Sorry guys, I should have been more specific. I am referring to the intake air filter and housing.

Depends on what mods you have now, but for most the stock air filter is a good choice. it filters EXCELLENTLY and also flows a good bit of air. I'm not sure I totally buy the 500rwhp myth, but honestly most guys do not need to change it. I changed mine simply because I got an AFE setup for free, and I didn't want to spend the money on another stocker.
