Default arp headstuds

Can arp head studs be done without pulling cab or pulling engine? My loader is down so i have no lifting capabilities for a while...

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

By the way, it is nothing for me to gross out at 25000 lbs... I just want a quick runnimg truck when unloaded, and a reliable heavy tow rig... And with if it isn't too much to ask, decent fuel economy cruiseing on the highway unloaded...

Yes they can, been done tons of times. You will have issues with the back bolts near the firewall especially on the drivers side. Some guys just pound the firewall in, or you can get creative with rubber bands to hold the bolts to the heads as you yank the heads etc.

I've read of some guys unbolting the trans from the crossmember and jacking it up at the rear to point the motor down forward. Also read of undoing one motor mount at a time to rotate the motor to a certain side for clearance as well, though it's not all needed, just different ways to skin the cat.

Of course you can yank the motor, but that's probably more work.

Stud it, EGR delete, coolant filter, rebuild the oil cooler, do the updates etc, then get custom tuning for that thing. You'll want a good tow tune or possibly even a trans only tune towing that weight, then you can just load up a hot tune for hot rodding around.

Decent fuel economy is probably too much to ask, seriously.

Well what heads do you think you can get? OEM Ford is about your only choice. Injectors will depend on what you want to do with the truck. Grossing 25k, you'd be a fool to do anything other than stock injectors. You MIGHT get away with 155's, but tuning will have to pull the fuel WAY back to even keep it reliable. Honestly at those weights, stockers are your best bet. If you want to tow and step up injector size, plan on doing compounds.

Liberator just o-rings some stock Ford heads. Just stick with OEM, never really heard of many people having good luck with o-rings or fire rings for our application. Just go with OEM gaskets, have your heads decked/pressure checked and all that good stuff and install.

Southbend makes a good clutch. For towing you're probably better off sticking with an upgraded single disk.
