where exactly is the IPR located and any special tools needed

It's accessible from the drivers side behind the turbo. There is a special socket to take it it out, or you can make your own.

The IPR valve looks like this:


So you can see the socket has to have a slot in it to get over that electrical connector.

The socket to get it off looks like this:



You can buy one, or buy a regular socket and mod it. I forget what size it is off the top of my head. Bob knows..

 

It's 35mm, also I have seen them at Napa, think they were around $50

 

Ordered the socket today as soon as I get it I will check out the IPR dont know anyone with a scanner except the dealership I Have a Diablo Preditor scanner but its only good for reading codes thats about it. I live in Ada,Ohio thats 70 miles west of columbus OH, 70 miles south of Toledo Oh, 100 miles north of Cincinnati Oh. if anyone is close with a scanner let me know.

Hey all

Still waiting for the socket to arrive, But this morning temp outside was 32 degrees F and I cranked untgill the battery was almost dead had to recharge and finally started. I pluged in my preditor and got these codes
0113 Intake Air Temp
0284 Cyl 8 Contrib
0336 Crank Positioner
0403 Exhaust Gas (egr delete)
0405 Exhaust Gas (egr delete)
0673 Cyl 3 glow plug
2290 Injector Controller
2291 Injector Controller

Any Ideas ??????
