Default Help please

i own a 2007 6.0 Powerstroke i have a Afe stage 2 cold air intake, MBRP 4" Turbo back exhaust, and the SCt livewire
i recently ran into a "little' problem i went to the race track friday and when i ran it half way down the track i lost power and my truck turned off i started it back up but then it wouldnt go into drive. I have two dtcs p0403 & p0405 but those are for the egr can that still cause my transmission to not engage?
Would really appreciate some help

It shut right off? WTF? I've had mine lose power, it went into a "safe mode" on me once when I was holding boost at a red light to embarass some little ricer. Made it to the next light full power, then went to take off and had NO power. My speedo went to 0, and lost a lot of functions. After driving down the road for a mile or so, it all came right back. Truck had just been on boost for too long without going anywhere. However, it didn't shut off. That's concerning.

Who's tuning are you using?

To me it sounds like a fuel issue. Do you have a fuel pressure gauge? Typically even no fuel pressure wouldn't shut the truck off though. That's scary.

When you say it wouldn't go into drive... as in you moved the shift lever but it wouldn't engage? I would think a trans issue would be completely separate and in no way would ever shut the truck off. Only way I've ever had mine shut off like that was doing a 3rd gear burnout with the race tune on. The converter was locked up so when the tires caught and stopped spinning it shut the truck down. I'm much nicer to my converter now since having to replace that one...

Yea well I lost power about halfway down the track but at the end it just died and Im not using a custom tune it's the performance canned tune
And I think it is going to be my torque converter

Why do you think it's the TC? A simple tune really shouldn't have destroyed the TC? Though it's possible. Try getting it on a real scanner and see if it comes up with any trans codes.

I tried scanning for codes but got nothing, and I can't think of anything else why the trans wouldn't engage

Does it fix itself ever or is your truck sitting in the driveway unable to get into a gear? Is it just D and R, or can you feel it clunk into anything else? What if you go to 3 or 2 or 1?

The SCT wont pick up stuff that a real scanner will unfortunately. Really need to get a true scanner on it.

I had a problem with my trans engaging last year... the shift cable from the column to the trans broke in the middle somewhere. My shifter moved nice and easy though... . Spent a week using the e-brake and crawling under the truck to "shift" it to what I needed. Made it real fun coming home and having to back into the driveway in the snow. Drive past driveway, put ebrake on, get out, crawl under truck, shift to reverse. Get back in truck, take ebrake off, back in driveway (hope you hit it right the first time!), ebrake on, get out of truck, crawl under and put in park, get in, shut truck off. Leaving in the morning, start truck, ebrake on, crawl under truck, put truck in drive, get back in truck, remove ebrake, drive to work, repeat. Good times.

I've also destroyed a stock TC before as well, but it just popped and stopped moving all together. It wouldn't hold in park either though...

My truck is just sitting there I tried shifting down to 1,2,& 3 but that didn't work and I wanted to try shifting it how you said my hand but I honestly couldn't figure out how
And man that sounds like it sucks luckily I have another truck I can use meanwhile
And ok I know what you mean now with the scanner well I setup an appointment with a trans place see what news they give me haha

Where are you located, you might be able to find another powerstroke guy near with AE or something to come scan you for a couple beers or something.

When you move the shifter does it feel light like it's not attached to anything, or does it feel like it's still moving something?

If you crawl under the truck from the drivers side, up on the trans you'll see a cable coming down to a little short lever/arm. That's what moves it in and out of gear. All the way one way is Park, then as you pull it down think about moving the shift lever in the truck, goes from Park to reverse, to neutral to drive, then down to each gear.

When my TC exploded, it basically did that. I could move the lever, but it made no difference in how it felt. When my shift cable broke you could easily tell something wasn't attached, the lever moved effortlessly.

See that black arm on the side of the case? There should be your shift cable coming down to that, you can crawl under the truck and move that. If when you move your shift lever, it actually moves that arm on the trans, then clearly that's not your issue and you've got more going on there...

My brothers shift cable broke a few weeks ago...... He found out his parking brake didn't work the same day. Then he had to block the tires everywhere he went haha

Im interested in seeing where this goes...... Hopefully you can get down there and she goes into gear on your trans...... Wish you luck
