Default Gpcm or PCM?

Ok went to start my truck this morning and it cranked and cranked and cranked... Wouldn't start.... All kinds of white smoke... Finally it fired.

Pulled codes and I got
p0603-internal ctrl mod kam error
P0683 glow plug ctrl mod to PCM comm circ

So either my gpcm or PCM is bad? How can I tell which one?

I have had the p0603 for a few weeks now, but I think it has something to do with my edge evo when I changed the settings...

Do you get any raw fuel smoke coming out of the exhaust when it is spinning over? When I have seen the glow plugs not fire there is a thick greyish smoke that will come out of the pipe.

Yea it smoke out the neighborhood... I know it's one of the 2, but I was wondering if the PCM was bad bc I got codes for it earlier...

The KAM is from changing your evo around, it's nothing. It basically means the batteries were disconnected. Definitely check out the GPCM.

Well it was cool Sunday morning and it started up, cranked for a few seconds but did fire...

This morning it cranked for a few seconds but did fire with alot of white/gray smoke (raw fuel)...
Cleared the codes Sunday and they haven't returned yet...

I haven't had a chance to check my ficm in the morning after the truck sits...

I have been doing all kinda of research on the 2 stroke thing it does and I'm guessing it's a bad injector, but I don't understand why I'm not getting any codes and it's not showing up on the contribution test?

I'd still be leery of the glow plug system, could just be a loose connection or chaffed wires making it act intermittently.

the 2 stroke thing is a bad injector, very bad stiction when cold and once it warms up for a while it is all good right?? it will completely fail in time and will just become a dead miss. have you done a contribution test when you first fire it up for the day, thats when it will appear, I feel your pain, finally have to replace one of mine for doing the same thing, acted just like this for a while now it is dead and even after warm up it is dead, when it was doing the 2 stroke thing it would rock the truck like a blown big block chevy on alcohol, if you ever saw one you would know what I'm talking about, good luck with it.

Checked all the wires and connections couldn't find anything, and it took my remote start 2 attempts to start this morning and at lunch... So I ordered a new gpcm today!!

I did the cylinder contribution test after work and it didn't show anything...

When I pulled codes today holly cow!!! I got alot of soft codes! I'll post them up tomorrow...

How did it do in the morning? I dont have the codes but I think I am having a similar issue with the blue smoke untill truck comes up to temperature.
