Default uggg.... 6.0 build

ok well my truck has 169xxx miles and its about time i guess. As it sits right now i have an s&b CAI, egr delete, coolant filter, updated oil cooler, turbo back straight 4" exhaust, ccv mod, blue spring upgrade and a fuel pressure gauge.

Plan is as follows.......... Truck needs injectors bad (stictition). So that led to the inevidable lets do everything once and be done idea. Here is the tennative parts list

ARP studs
OEM hg's
Amsoil oil bypass kit
new standpipes and dummy plugs
new IPR
STC HPOP upgrade kit
AT coolant recirclation kit
Driven diesel regulated return kit
SCT tuner with custom tunes (not sure who's tunes yet thinking holderdown performance)
175cc stock nozzle injectors from warren diesel

Not looking for a major powerhouse but more a reliable dd and tow rig for my rock crawler. Hoping to be right around 400hp +-. pretty much ill be happy with 350hp or more.

What yall think?

What is the Stc HHOP kit
I read you can not get a higher out put oil pump for the 6 liter

The latest fitting for the rear of the HPOP does away with the STC fitting and it has a solid connection. This eliminates the blowouts that were common before the updated kits. They also make one that has the STC fitting still but has a steel bracket that ties both sides of the fitting together to the pump.

You can get a higher output pump from Diesel Site, but you have to convert it to the early 04 or 03 setup. The STC= snap to connect fitting had major issues and would cause a hot no start problem, the new ones are solid.

I would say add a gasket set for the turbo and intake manifold along with all the other little seals here and there from taking everything apart. And if your going to buy the new injectors might as well get the 175cc with 75% nozzle. you should still be able to clean most of it up and if you decide to go with a bigger turbo it will help in the future. from looking at it you should be well over 400hp with all that.

If you can't turn over 400HP with just an SCT tune you need to drive that VW more often.

Dump that regulated return and use an fuel pump instead. IF you find the FP doesn't stay where you want it THEN add a regulated return. Those 175s are not going to last without being fed properly.

They're stock nozzle 175's, they wont flow what a full 175 with say a 75% nozzle will. More than stock, but not as much as a full injector nozzle.

Race tune SCT's are ~ 420-430rwhp by themselves.

You should look into a powermax turbo too, it'd match those sticks nicely.

With that many miles I'd also get the intake manifold gaskets, you'll also need exhaust manifold gaskets, and it may not be a bad idea to do the waterpump and thermostat while you're digging in.

thanks for the input guys. And yes we are doing all the gaskets but most are pretty new since i just did the egr delete last year when it started leaking a little. As for injectors im going stock nozzle 175cc. Yes I know they arent as good as getting bigger nozzles but its just not in the budget and i think they will do just fine. On the regulated return side i did a lot of research and think the RR is the best way to go right now. As the truck sits now with the blue spring upgrade only the FP gauge reads 60psi from idle to full throttle so i think its good to go and the RR is a heck of a lot easyer to install with the cab off then with it on so im doing it. (And its been sitting in my tool box for about 6 months). Do yall think i should get a airdog 100 or something also or should i be good with this. And also the truck is used to tow about 8 to 10k a lot and through the mountians. What will egt's be with a tune and these mods?

oh and bryan.......... you know the vw is the wifes and for some reason she wont let me drive it . And its going back to vw next week as a lemon. Trying to talk her into an Ex with a powerstroke. Or a full cab. (not going so well though)

With some good tow tunes (make sure tuner knows you have bigger sticks) you "should" be ok towing. With 10k you should be ok, powermax would help a lot too

I was wondering if a powermax would be a good idea or not. I really dont want smoke at all and hoping for less tubo lag. Would the powermax suite this? Also should I be looking at getting something like an airdog 100 also or will the RR do the job of keeping fuel pressure up for the new injectors?
