Default 06 6.0 after hg job

Ok so my buddy had a guy do his hg, and he's got around $5,000 wrapped up in the job... It has taken the guy over 2 months to do the job, so my buddy got pissed bc he said he would have it done in 3 weeks. Long story short my buddy took the truck back...

Guy dropped it off last night, went to start it this morning and it cranked for a long time, then it fired up... After it idles for 5 seconds, it sounds like a big block with a huge cam... Shakes the whole truck no smoke? and it does not clear up...

Checked the codes and all it gave me was a icp code...

Now the guy left a note that the throttle is bad? That's all he put... If you tap the throttle ( not even a 1/8" ) it has a delay then rpm jumps to 3,000 and smooths out...

I wanted to do a icp vs icp but I'm afraid to let it idle like that... And you can not drive it...

Batteries are dying bc it takes so long to crank, but I tested ficm and it is good

So would a throttle position sensor do this?

how long have you let it run? sounds like air in the HP system, sometimes it takes a while to get it to clear up, he did put new standpipes and dummy plugs in it didn't he??

Unplug the icp and see if it improves

I'm not sure if he did new plugs and stand pipes... Where is the icp on the 06? I know mine is by the turbo...

All I know is he said he sent the heads out, egr delete and arp studs. I'm not sure on the parts list... I think he said he bought a whole kit...

I heard something of letting it idle at 3,000 rpm to get the air out...

The ICP sensor is in the passenger side valve cover.

Very possible it's just air in the High pressure oil system. If you monitor ICP actual against desired, you'll know right away. Desired will be normal and actual will be much lower.

3000rpms for 3 minutes I believe was the spec ford used for bleeding the HPO system. Just drive the thing. Start it up and monitor the ICP's though and see what they're saying.

Was this some Joe Schmoe off the street working on the truck or what?

I always thought about offering the service to do headgasket jobs etc, but never though I could make any money doing it... however I'm quite certain I could beat $5k and a couple months with ease

I'm going to run it today after work and see what it does...

I guess from what I was told the guy works for ups as a diesel tech... He is a friend of a friend of a friend...

I'm going to see if I can get a parts list too...

I told him I would do the job for free but it would take me a few weekends... That's why he had him do it bc he said 2-3 weeks...

I'd be real interested to see the parts list on that... $5k is dealer prices, not some jagaloon.

Hopefully it was not black onyx head gaskets because usually thos are the only ones that still come with the kits, if he did use those he will be doing it again

Yea I know I tried telling him... He's stubborn...

I'm trying to figure out what he meant by the throttle was bad? That's all he put on the notes...
Would the throttle position sensor do this?

Doubtful, sounds like the guy is just an idiot and doesn't know what he's doing with a 6.0. The throttle doesn't just go bad. This thing really needs to be put on a scanner.
