Wondering if I could help me set alarms up on my edge cs?
Looking for max values to set alarm up

Tran temp
Oil temp
Coolant temp

its kind of interesting that it has alarms. I guess i would set up an alarm for 15 degree difference between oil and coolant temp if its capable of that. trans temp i dont know. is the edge cs a tuner also?

 

Yes, it's a tuner. I can set alarms ie 220 on ect so it will flash high temp.
New to diesels so looking for setting. Right now I set oil and coolant temp at 220?

Can you set an alarm to the EGT's. I feel like that would be very useful!
However I can't say much....even though my truck is stock I still ain't got no gauges...

 

Yes I can but don't know what value? 850? But not sure? Would like to set alarms but un sure to what value.

I always set my EGT to 1100, even when towing I feather the throttle to keep it below that, I don't push it and I have had no Head gasket problems or coolant issues.

 

These temps are making me laugh... alarms for 1100 degrees? You could run 1100 all day long without issue. I'd set EGT at 1250* Short bursts above that wont hurt anything, just don't hold it above that for a long time. I've buried my 1600* gauge a few times...

220* on coolant is pretty low, especially if you tow a LOT. I think that's a good number to start with though. If you're not towing you're going to have a hard time setting any alarms on oil/coolant or trans. The trans one will never go off and if it does damage is already done. These 5R's run real cool. I've never seen mine even break 190*, towing my 22' bumper puller camper with a tow tune loaded up in the middle of the summer, with the hammer down.

Also as someone noted difference from coolant to oil temp is 5 degs. So assume oil cooler in good shape

I prefer to hear an alarm, gauges are nice but if I. Don't pay attention things can happen fast.

 

1100 is where my alarm is, when towing defuel is at 1200, I tow a 34', tall gooseneck trailer total weight is only about 10k and I have no problem keeping temp down below 1100 on tow mode with the Edge and in tow mode, I need this truck every day so I don't abuse it very often, I guess it realy depends on the mods the truck has as to where to set alarms and such, bigger free flowing exhaust and better intercooler help keep temps down so it doesn't make sense to let things get too hot because the name of the game is keeping the EGTs down so as to not hurt anything. Agreed with the trans temp, I don't have a real guage on it but the factory unit doesn't budge no matter how much I am pulling.

 

180* is too low for the trans temp. That's like normal operating temp, we just happen to run cool. I would set that for 200* or more.
