Default Fuel Spring upgrade

I have seen several references to a fuel spring upgrade on here. Can someone explain please?

It helps keep your pressure where it needs to be since the old spring starts to wear out and drops your fuel pressure as far as i know.

What should the fuel pressure be running at?

55 to 65 psi. if you get below 45 i believe you start to mess your injectors up.

Yes, ford's actual spec is 55 + or - 5. they say 45 or less is doing damage.

Most people just blindly throw this in their trucks without knowing if they actually need it or not. Will it hurt? No. It's not a bad idea to put it in, but it's sort of like throwing parts at a truck without diagnosing it too.

Monitoring fuel pressure is one of the most important, and over-looked things a 6.0 owner should be doing. If you know your fuel pressure, then you know if you're ok, or need upgrades.

I guess I should get a gauge then. I bought and put in Autometer factory match Pyro and Boost gauge in a triple pillar pod so I guess the third hole is gonna be for fuel pressure gauge.
Thanks alot guys!

I typically recommend these as the first three gauges for anyone:

Fuel Pressure
Oil temp
Coolant temp

Pyro is a real good one if you're running a programmer.

Boost is more for the "cool" factor than anything. I've got one, but really there are more useful things that could be in it's spot.

Good call on the fuel pressure gauge, one of the most important things for a 6.0.

Actually when I chose a boost gauge, I did so because I thought the factory dash gauge was wrong....it seemed to give different readings under the same load conditions. I had the gauge bungie strapped to the dash....rather redneckish I know.
