Default Programmer problems

I just bought a 2006 6.0 power stroke. After i bought it i realized the programmer didn't work, but there was already a program in the truck since with stock tires the speedometer was off but when i put 35's it is right now. I called Edge products and they told me to send it in, they sent me a brand new one and that one still doesn't work. I can pull codes up and one of the codes says lost comm with ECRN/PCRN A.

Any help is appreciated!!
Thanks
Shane

you can try to disconnect the batteries to see if it will take the program off or take it to ford to have it flashed back to stock.

How do you know it's tuned in any way? The speedo being off has nothing to do with it. The only way to change the speedo is with a superlift truspeed unit, or have someone at Ford do it with their IDS, or you can also do it with autoenginuity, but a programmer will not change the speedo.

So what you're saying though is that the programmer you do have isn't working right? It's possible its as simple as the fuse being burnt out for the OBD port. It's the same one for the cigarette lighter outlet, does that have power going to it?

However, that doesn't seem to be the issue if you're reading codes with it... it's possible the programmer isn't even for that truck you know...

too many variables here and not enough info.

Welcome to DB by the way!

jeffa6980: i am new to this kind of thing never really put money into a truck or programmers or anything, but when i went to the Ford house up here they told me that they could not flash it back to stock all they could do was put the updates on it. would that be the same?

Mdub707: yes i have power to the cig lighter.

i have one more question for anyone out there were would i go to find the wiring schematic for the OBD. cuz when i talked to a guy here in town to day he said that dealerships up here have been cutting one of the wires in the back so that people cant program them and i have a white and blue one back there that isnt connected to anything

Find the attached PDF document.

The LB/WH (Light Blue/White) wire goes to pin 16 (bottom right) and is the Batt. Pwr. line for the OBD connector. The diagram also indicates a LB/WH wire on pin 7 (2nd from top right) which is for the ISO Communications bus, but that is not normally used on a 6.0L. Only the HS CAN+ and HS CAN- are used.

If you'd like to PM me your number, we can take a look and see if we can figure out what's what.

For reference, a programmer CAN correct the speedo on 2005-2007 6.0L trucks.

There's also a white/blue wire that is just terminated, it's a run power wire. I know this because we tap into this for run power for our vegistrokes. It keeps the system on after we've turned the key off for purging purposes.

that should be the same as flashing it. i know every time i take it up to the dealership with a program still on it, it always comes back without the program on it.

ALWAYS return your truck to stock when they're flashing it. Especially if you're using custom tunes. You have the potential to lose your stock file by doing this.

Ok. Just looked everything matches the schematics. Just trying it again to see what happens. It ran its course when it got to the "check sum" ran that got to"calculating check sum" it ran file 1of2 and got to 2 of 2 and then it threw the error code. But I guess I'm making progress it never let me go that far before.

If it's failing the checksum, that means the truck is already programmed. All you should have to do is connect to Fusion and Fusion will download the correct stock files and then instruct you to return to the truck and program the vehicle back to stock. Let me know if you need any assistance in this process. Also, if you'd like to keep a copy of the original "modified" tunes, let me know BEFORE you connect to Fusion or Fusion will wipe them out and replace them.

Take care.
