A stock tune! I'm sure you could get Eric or someone to write you a tune for emissions testing. Just pull a ton of fuel out of it. I watched a 1000rwhp capable 7.3 pass emissions testing just by turning his chip down... tuning has come a LONG way.

Not to start a war but $6000 for that isnt bad. Hair over. Parts listed above are at wholesale so of course the shop will throw on markup on them after their discount rates so call it $2500-2800 in parts then they're going to put 30hrs into it at their labor rate which id guess given you location is prob aroud $100/hr. Head studs are an ABSOLUTE MUST!!!! Get the core of your motor rock solid then if youre looking to save some money, wait till later for the chip and bolt ons. Doing this yourself is the way to go tho. Not terribly difficult but 6.0's are a time consuming pain in the "anatomy"!

Don’t forget oil and coolant disposal fees, taxes, shop supplies, etc. Some of our customers have a hard time wrapping their heads around those issues, can take a while to explain.

Had my truck done at Left Coast, $6300 ish. They do a fair amount more than what u posted, split turbo, clean etc, rebuild ipr, Bulletproof diesel egr cooler, new oil cooler, new filters and fluids, bullet proof diesel turbo oil drain, rev X etc.etc. along with the arp studs gaskets and all u have mentioned. Inquire more from Left Coast and they will give u the full run down. Alot of times im sure they don't run down the whole list with every 6.0liter owner because it of the high volume of trucks they do annually. The shop is highly qualified diesel shop, they build some insane trucks too. Get the full scoop... i would not go anywhere else with my 6.0 locally! California prices are not the same as prices other places unfortunatly, the housing market is a great example of this.

I guess if you're not working on your own stuff this is the going rate now?

cleaning the turbo anyone on this site could do in an afternoon for almost no $$$
Rebuild the IPR? So they put a new o-ring on the outside of it and popped the new screen on, also something anyone here can do
bulletproof diesel doesn't make their own drain, it's just the updated Ford drain that they mark up, then Left Coast marks up, then sells to you.

I'm sure there is more that goes into it than what I listed earlier too, and I'm not knocking these guys, cause I'm sure they do a good job.

In my case, I just couldn't justify spending $3k + of my own money for someone else to wrench on my truck, even if I didn't know what I was doing.

I just think the job could be done for less money for equal quality. Tough to say though, as location does play a role in this too.

Exactly. I'm sure almost any powerstroke tech at a Ford house wouldn't mind doing this job on the side. That or find someone on the forums. I've seen guys on the forums offer to do it for $1200-$1500 in labor.

What ever happened with this truck in question, did it get fixed?
