I have an 06 F350 and ever since the truck was new when it was cold it would barely move until it warmed up a little.I would put the truck into drive and wait for it to start moving.

Had the tranny serviced around 90,000 miles or so and it still will not go right away when cold - now pushing 160,000 miles and still no change.

Had a friend and his 06 did the same thing.

Mine did this too, my trans was way screwed up. Usually it's the snap ring that causes the delay in reverse. I would be bringing it back to where ever you got it from. My new trans that was rebuilt over this past summer has NO delay what so ever when changing gears or shifting from R to D or anything like that.

The missing when cold, I'd have the batteries load tested and test your FICM, you can find the test procedure for the FICM at the top of the 6.0 page. Welcome to DB!

Well, let's throw this into the mix, on a road trip it started to unlock the converter and down shift from 6th to 5th while DECELERATING after a pass! That's right, light throttle pressure, slowing down after passing another vehicle. I really hope my trans isnt trying to take a giant dump on me!

Is the snap ring an easy fix or a complete rebuild

Matt from Gear Head suggested running in stock mode for a few days and see what happens.

Snap ring I'm pretty sure requires most of the internals to be removed, so at that point you'd probably be better off just doing a rebuild. I'm in no way a trans expert though.

YAY! Thanks EDGE! That's where all of my issues started. Speaking of which, when it was doing that cool slam shifting with Edge and there were no codes in the trans, guess what picked up TWO trans codes when I went back to stock? That's right, my SCT found/cleared trans codes. While there is still a lag when selecting R and D (and by the sounds of things it isn't going away) the slam shifting in stock has been some what midigated.

I'm gonna run it till it falls I LIKE TURTLES out of the truck. Then I'm going to kick it around a few times! Why rebuild it when it only needs a snap ring? Be an over achiever and RUIN that thing!

Yea, I'm a little disgruntled.

Karl, usually these trans start slam shifting when they're trying to protect themselves. I've seen it even just unplugging the batteries for a while. The hard shift is actually just to make sure it MAKES the shift and isn't hunting around or slipping. If it keeps doing it, then yeah there's a problem there.

FWIW, this is NOT the first time I've heard of an SCT picking up codes that other "programmers" were not getting. I've also heard of other programmers reading the codes wrong, so instead of a P0299 it came up with a U0299 or something along those lines. So instead of pointing out a bad FICM or something, the U code meant some chassis thing so it was telling us the truck had a bad window motor or some nonsense... instead of the real issue.

I think there were some Ford reprogramming of the TCM, FICM & PCM for some shifting issues. I think someone had a thread on a list of Ford TSB's that might show them!
