If it starves the motor for oil you're going to need more than an oil filter change... You're taking a BIG risk IMO.

Why can't you get a socket on the factory cap??? I'm confused.

cant get a socket on the factory cap because the mechnic we fire before I got there alwaysed used channel locks and the ford finished it when We took it on for injectors... The engine in my oppinion does not sound like its starvin and quite actually i couldent get it to start missing. IDK Mdub, if worst comes to worse can I just put the factory cap on the filter??? The cap matched up I miked both caps and they were the same thickness as the OEM cap? IDK Mdub.
In all honesty, the truck been runnin a lil better sounds healthier to me anyways, and It didnt miss at all after I changed the filter. Were gonna see how the MPG goes with it..

It's your call brother. I'd say if it has oil pressure and sounds smooth, you're probably ok. I'm not sure why it would come with it's own cap if they're the same... Sounds like once again you're running into issues due to someone else's neglect.

My grandfather bought the oil and filter I told him to get a motorcraft or fram, but he hates fram and napa doesnt carry Motorcraft so he got the napa gold, I changed it. Theres a class action lawsuite he paying attention too, he didnt sign up for anything but he wants to see what happens before he gets the EGR delete and Coolant filters. At least I got him convinced to do it. But thanks for all the help guy really appreciate it. Sorry for being the 6.0 hater I am But Im sure Ill have more questions to come, Im gonna try to test the FICM while I have an extra hand and we aint usin the truck... I live 12 miles off the ranch and I got to much damn homework to go over on a school day and do it... But thanks Mdub and 03. I think Im gonna do the Coolant filter for my truck to, since its farm land out here...

can any of ya guys give me a quick run down how the fuel system works what I know is it comes from the tank to the primary fuel filter and pump and then goes to the secondary filter and then to the injectors which I know run off oil pressure my question is how doesn the injectors get the pressure to distribute the fuel, this I have never been able to fiqure out... also If I wanted to put a fuel pressure gauge where would I tap it at??? thanks for the help to bad you aint where Im at I buy a case of coors for ya!

The pressure to push the fuel comes from the HPOP (high pressure oil pump). Essentially the LPOP (low pressure oil pump, basically a standard oil pump found on most engines) feeds oil through the engine and to the HPOP. The HPOP can run up near and above 4000psi of oil pressure on the outlet, feeding the injectors. The injectors are hydraulically driven by the oil. The internals of the injector also have a drive ratio (for lack of a better term), so they typically run like 7:1, so the 4000psi from the HPOP actually is pushing fuel at something like 28000psi, which sounds more accurate for a diesel. If you've ever heard of hybrid injectors for these, they lower that ratio, which is a downfall, but at the added benefit of a lot more fuel. So your ICP sensor, your IPR valve, the PCM, the FICM, these components are all working in sync to tell the HPOP how much pressure to push and tell the FICM when to fire injectors electronically. They're actually pretty neat systems. Sounds like you have the fuel side down. The oil side really isn't too complex either once you know how it works.

Obviously this is watered down... haha
