Default exhaust question

03 6.0L CC SB FX4. Completely stock. i plan on doing a 5" exhaust straight pipe here in the near future and don't like it being quiet right now. was thinking about cutting my cat and muffler out right now for fun until i do the exhaust. would this cause any problems? or would it be perfectly fine to do?

mostly refering to O2 sensors or anything along those lines. wanna let the baby breathe.

1. There are no O2 sensors
2. It's an 03, there will be a resonator before the cat, take that dude out and it will WHISTLE like a hillbilly missing a toof. However, the down tube/resonator are 3" then it necks up to 3.5" for the cat and muffler.
3. Instead of halfast hacking on it, just get a 4" (5 is over kill, esp if it comes with a 4" down tube) turbo back system and do it ONCE! A 4" turbo back will have a 3.5 down tube.

Read my signature for all the details.

yea i'd be taking out the resonator also. was gonna do it earlier but got nervous and started second guessing. i'm gonna cut everything out behind the trans crossmember so that it exits out behind everything to keep heat little bit farther away than blowing right on everything

The cat and muffler you can UNBOLT you don't need to cut anything. You can buy cat and muffler delete sections for about $125 total. Dfuser.com has them. Prices may have changed, I don't recall.

I think it only fair to mention that when I bought my truck, the previous owner had removed the cat and replaced the muffler with a 3.5" after market. Whoever did the work welded in the muffler and the test pipe. So, in reality, I have no clue what an OEM exhaust looks like. I know that the down tube and resonator were only 3". I also know what it sounds like when you 4" straight pipe it.

Any way I'd be able to get that cat off you? An '03 straight piped sounds IN' WICKED, '03 was the loudest turbo whine out of all the 6.0L PSDs
