Ok guys just got done doing some driving and i am geting stuff for my egr delete tomorrow, But am trying to figure out if i need to go ahead and replace the oil cooler? Dnt really have the extra money to spend but really dnt want to have to tear it back apart in a month either my egr is still fine just going ahead and deleting the problem. I think they aRE SUPPOSED TO BE WITHIN 15 deg of each other, pretty sure you can get a oil cooler rebuild kit, gaskets and all.

has anyone cleaned one, unplugged the water passages?? I wonder if CLR would help??

I dnt know i was wondering the same thing. My dad can get the oil cooler from our ford dealer for 270$ and the rebuild kit is not much cheaper than that. does anyone know if the cooler comes with the seals and the screen or no?

Don't think it comes with a screen, should have the seals, open it up at dealer to make sure though.

I have an oil cooler rebuild kit sitting on my table at the house Eric, I can tell you exactly what comes with it later.

It's like $231 from Tousley for the rebuild, my guess is that is exactly what your dad got, not the entire cooler. Here's the P/N for that: 3C3Z-6A642-CA

The entire cooler MSRP's for $585, and Tousley sells it for $385, and they're typically much cheaper than the local dealers.

It'd be nice to see what the temp spread is with a load. To do it correctly you're supposed to blast up a hill and read it when you get to the top/let off. Just cruising is masking the issue, it will get worse when going up a big hill at WOT.

What I find really odd is your oil is higher than your coolant... usually the coolant is way higher than the oil (signs of oil cooler blockage). At this point, I'd just go ahead and rebuild the thing man. $230... is it worth digging back in later to find out? Look on ebay and the forums too, I picked one up for like $175 still in the package.

Text me tonight and I'll look in the package and see what is all included.

If the cooler were clogged, wouldn't that drive up the coolant temp, not the oil temp?

If you could find a machine shop that has an EMERSION tank (not the glorified dish washer that most shops have), that may get the goo and goblins out of those passages. Just make sure that tank is aluminum friendly, some chemicals DISSOLVE aluminum. Either way, having seen cross sectional pictures of these coolers, I think that unless you're really strapped for cash (or just hard headed like me), r&r may be the best option.

I just saw that EricC is from Florida, there are no hills in Florida! The whole state has an altitude change of less than 300ft

....sorry, I thought it was funny.....

My oil cooler rebuild kit came with the cooler section, great instructions, AND a bag of seals and o-rings, as well as the new updated HPOP screen. Guess I have two of them here now.
