Horrible fuel mileage

20 mpg!?!
When I'm in Phx at 1300ft, I only get about 15 in town in mine, and I drive like a gramma! At home its 4000ft and I'm excited to see 14.5, and I'm only 7000lbs! The highest I EVER saw on the highway was 18.5 on 33s.
20 mpg, pfffft!, I'd have to see AND calculate it to believe it myself.

A lot of Cummins guys say that. Unless you're running oil-bypass filters and coolant filters, there's no reason you shouldn't be keeping up on all of these regardless of the engine...Powerstroke, Cummins, Duramax, hell even gassers (btw, even with the bypass, I still sample oil for analysis every 7500-10k). I've heard Dodge guys saying they'd rather deal with a 2003 6.0L nightmare than a 6.7 Cummins...Why? Because in less than 10 minutes of going through the forums you can learn every single issue with a 6.0 and how to fix it to make it a very reliable truck.

I keep up with my filters and fluid changes Oil every 5 K, Fuel filters every ten, Trany every 20K. I rather deal with a 6.7 Cummins than a 6.0L just from the aspect you can work on them withought having to pull the cab, or deal with it in the hood. I have a OBDII, and my friend has
a trouble shooting book for Powerstoke, 7.3 to the new 6.7 and Duramax, and Cummins 12V to 6.7 Cummins.

There are two guys who drive diesels at my work. Me, and my buddy. My buddy has an 05 commonrail dodge... I think he averages about 12-13mpg in his truck. He's an older guy, so he certainly isn't beating on it. I rode with him out west last year towing a small 14' enclosed trailer. The trailer and cargo couldn't have weighed more than 2500lbs. Check out this phenominal mileage...
Granted, he doesn't really care much since he now runs a vegi-ram. He was using a vegistroke on his 04 6.0 he had before he sold it for this truck.
Makes me wanna run right out and buy one. Cummins: melting pistons since 1919.

i dont understand why the cummins guys like it so much in the 6.0 section???
maybe its because they feel they need to talk **** about our trucks to make them feel better about theirs
it's not like we(6.0 owners) get on the cummins section and talk about the shity transmissions, bad interior, and the my favorite "i bought a cummins and the dodge came with it"...... In that case you paid $12,000 for a rusty tub with a good motor, insted we bought 6.0's and with a few mods can have some of the most reliable and nicest trucks around
