The Ford temp deltas do not apply to EGR cooler deleted motors. The TSB that states the delta check is to prevent the EGR cooler from rupturing. I had my oil cooler replaced and still run an average split of 13-16* ECT/EOT. Do I like it...NO...but then no one can explain how or why there is still a temp split. I do not believe the oil cooler became clogged again in less than 2 hours of driving. I use the CTS Insight for gauges and the split was there before the oil cooler replacement. I'm thinking maybe it could be the PCM, or the sensors. I have just about run out of stuff to replace or check to find the culprit.

Do you run those temps just daily driving? It's not uncommon to reach a delta of around 20* when towing heavy too sometimes. Mine is typically between 3-7* difference, original oil cooler.

oil and coolant mixing, you'd basically have to replace all of the coolant hoses, and some say the radiator should be replaced at that point as well. It's not good.

Heavy assault did you flush your coolant? and if so how did you do it? I read on another forum if you dont use the restore and restore+ then your temps will still be different.

heres the link to the oil cooler change and still difference in temps

I've got restore to run through mine. Or is it restore +... I keep confusing them, one gets rid of silicates right? The other gets rid of iron deposits? I plan on using the silicate remover one, whichever one that is. Use that and distilled water, run it for a few hours, drain it, refill with distilled water only, repeat, drain, go to whatever coolant you want. You can also do as many "flushes" with distilled water as you want, keep going til it looks clean. I've heard you can do tap water for that step, just as long as your last step is distilled water. It's cheap enough though...

As for STC fitting... up to you. If you're diving in for something else, just do it, it's like $50 or something. Otherwise you can just wait til it fails. Usually it just wont let you start the truck when it warms up, RARELY does it actually leave anyone stranded, but it is possible. That's a judgement call for you to make.

im pretty sure that restore is for the silicates and restore+ is for the iron im gonna do the whole process when i get home and change my coolant out. that link with the coolant flush is pretty detailed and gives you step by step. tells you to remove the temp sensor to get it done a little faster.
