Default big fuel leak?????

alright the other morning i was at my grandfathers house and he started his truck to warm it up it was about 26* outside and the first time his remote start didnt start it so he hit it again and she fired she spit out some smoke which is unusual for his truck he hardly gets a light haze if he tries too. we let our trucks warm up for about 20 minutes and when we went outside underneath his truck was about a cup and a half or so of fuel on the ground we spent a good 30 minutes looking for a leak and trying to make it leak again by shaking fuel lines and what not. nothing so is this a normal thing like an over flow or pressure valve that could have released the pressure? or could there really be a problem here? he hasnt drove it since because he is too cautiouse thanks for any help guys

and i know on my cummins that the return line is a low pressure line and if it was cracked then you could only have fuel comming out at wot. idk if this is the same with the return line on a powerstroke or not

There should be no leaks. You're positive it was fuel? No more after that though? Going to be hard to pinpoint a leak if it's not leaking...

I too have an 06. Just thinking about how the fuel system is laid out, i would start by looking around the fuel filter cap/housing on the motor. Have the fuel filters been changed at all recently? When they are changed do you guys do them or does the dealer do them? The cap on the housing on the motor and the cap down on the frame on the HFCM both have big o-rings on them they can sometimes not seal perfect. The system is at ~ 55psi at all times so if it's a small leak it could just be an o-ring not set properly.

You also have a fuel plug on the back of both heads.

so i talked to my grandpa and he says it hasnt happened again and he drove it all day yesturday with no problems and cant get it to leak again. he has about six fuel filters on his whole system because he has a 100 gallon aux tank and he also has hook ups for annother 100 gallon aux tank that are all capped off in the bed when its not in there but we checked all the filters, we checked the fuel pump he also has a second fuel pump to supply fuel from his aux tanks to the truck tank and that one was fine, and we checked the valve. all those things were dry. and werent even around where the fuel was comming out of the truck. it looked like it was comming down around the back of the engine and then running down the driveway.
