Default water in fuel....now wont start

About 5 days ago my "water in fuel" light came on after filling the tank. had not drained the seperator yet and filled the tank again today and pulled off in the grass at a friends house and when i went to leave i was stuck. noticed the heat wasnt blowing warm air and after a dodge tried to yank me out of the mud a few times my truck died and wont start. i drained and water seperator and pushed the fuel shut off reset thinking maybe being yanked caused the fuel shut off but still nothing. Any ideas?? thanks!

The heat not blowing warm air is typically low coolant/blown headgaskets, but let's not jump to conclusions just yet. Have you checked your coolant level? Start there.

As for the not starting, when you crank it over are you getting smoke out the exhaust?

Ok, so the coolant fill should take care of your no heat issues. You may want to look into why it was low though, could be an EGR cooler failing, or headgaskets on their way out.

Now, since you don't have smoke coming out, that means the injectors are NOT firing. Can you try reading codes?

Since it worked before and now nothing is working, something probably got jerked loose. Check your battery/alternator connections. (Though I suspect these are ok, since the truck is cranking over) Might be worth checking the FICM as well. There is a write up at the top of the page on how to check it.

ok got it to jump start this morning and drove it down the road and it died when i stopped. jumped it again and got it back to a friends and it died when i pulled in the drive and won't jump again...just cranks. there were no warning lights on the dash except the battery light came on just before it died both times.
