Default Still losing coolant???

I appreciate any advice i could get from you guysadvance! I have a 2004.5 harley truck 233000km's head studs, i replaced oil cooler and did an egr block off plates few months ago after that i started blowing coolant, found out my degass bottle cap was only holding 7psi
Replaced that and still losing a little bit of coolant leaking around cap. I have put 6 liters in in past 4 months and total of 20,000km's
Had oil analysis done every oil change no coolant in oil everything in normal range no fuel or oil in coolant.
One mechanic says headgaskets other mechanic believes using old egr cooler with plates instead of full delete kit because there could be an small internal leak causing ehaust gas pressure in cooling system.
I have no codes and truck runs fine. You have any thoughts or ideabefore i tear this truck apart???
Any info greatly appreciated
AJ

Need more info on these egr blocker plates? Did you just weld plates in the end of the cooler? That's the cheap way of doing it, it works as long as they're welded good.

When headgaskets go you wont see oil/coolant mixing and you wont see fuel in the coolant either. Typically if you see that you have bigger problems, like a cracked head.

Who put the headstuds in and how was the job done? Heads decked/magnafluxed and pressure checked? What gaskets were used? OEM Ford or something else?

My quick guess would be headgaskets not knowing anything about it, I suppose the cooler could be leaking but I find it unlikely.

Thanks for the quick reply i doubt the head job was done proper it was done at dealership 83,000km arp studs and not sure of type of gaskets, and the egr blockoffs just welded plates done cheaply, i just landed a sinister kit with new up pipe being put in. Just wonder what other tests i can do, the mechanics seem horny to tear apart for thousands of dollars.....

Ford never decks the heads so my guess is the gaskets are blown. If they have to do it again, GET THE HEADS DECKED! They need to be brought to a competent machine shop and done correctly. I'd start with doing the EGR delete and repeat testing, if it still pushes coolant, time do dig in...

Who's doing the work this time? You or the dealer?

Out of warrenty sono dealer they quoted me 5500$$ just lifting and basic job no decking or machining. I live in eastern canada and i cannot find a competent mechanic at all. They just wanna make quick coin i believe i would be better of doing myself. There is a place east coast diesel that would be good for doing the heads buts they want 1800$ to deck two heads wtf???
I also found a 2004 motor with no turbo and no studs done with 65,000km's and wonder if buying that would be good and build motor solid myself. He is selling it for 1700$
I am installing egr delete next wk and like u said drive it and see. What do u think on the used motor??

That's cheap for a used 6.0, but you could be buying someone else's headache! I'll bet there are some more competent shops near you in Canada. Try reaching out on one of the larger powerstroke forums, there will be more eyes to help point the way

Stay away from glowshift. Gauges are one of those things you really get what you pay for. I use Isspro EV2 gauges. Autometer has some really nice stuff too.

Good call on the SCT. Good call on the other hard parts too. For fuel pump I'd recommend the Airdog2 since it's got a built in adjustable regulator so you can set the fuel pressure with it.

Im going to look at that motor next wk and get some oil out of it for analysis to send away. It will tell me alot and take my time building it i think if motor isgood. Also i plan to upgrade oil drane tube on turbo not sure if anything moderately budgeted u can do to the heads while off upgraded valves or springs??
And for gauges i assume fuel pressure, boost and egt...but i understand the sct will display all but fuel pressure? What would u run on the a pillar??

Good call on the oil analysis, that's a good idea.

For gauges the one's I always recommend are:

Fuel Pressure
Engine oil temp
Engine coolant temp
Pyro if running a programmer
Trans temp is only necessary if you're towing REAL heavy and often (10K plus almost daily would fit that definition).
Boost is nice, but not a necessity I'd say. The first three I listed are the most important. Fuel pressure will let you know that your injectors are getting the fuel they need to not damage themselves. If pressure runs low, they get hurt.

ECT and EOT need to be monitored together. They really shouldn't run more than 15* apart. If they're getting up towards 20 and higher apart, then it tells you your oil cooler is getting clogged. Clogged oil coolers are typically what leads to blown EGR coolers and blown headgaskets after that.
