@ Mdub707,

i have quite a few mods... here is the list. Edge juice w/ att. platinum (hot stage unlocked), upgraded fuel pres. regulator spring, banjo bolt mod, airdog 2 165 w/adjst. reg. , rcd egr delete, 5" exhaust turbo back, afe stage 2 intake, water/ meth, i never tow on high stages, mainly on 2 or 3. I only use stage 6 for smoke ..and noise. i just like to get on it with it turned up till i hit like 80 mph, but as i do it defuels because of heat and i don't want to melt it down. so your sayin i am "safe" to do it but.. not alot and for short periods of time?:jump:

Sell that thing and get an SCT. Short bursts are fine. I know guys pushing 2000 degrees sled pulling... just prolonged exposure kills it. You'd be safer and I bet you'd have LOWER egt's and be FASTER with an SCT... just my 2 cents.

The defuel on the Edge is user adjustable, so you can set it for whatever you want. Just be smart, don't tow on hot tunes is all. :c:

You basically have the same mods as me except I don't have the fuel pump and I don't have water/meth. What mix are you running for w/m? I'd keep the water content high and the meth low, it could be adding to your higher EGT's. What EGT are you hitting when it's defueling?

i did adjust the defuel, and as far as the water/meth goes i love it when i tow, i do like a 30 meth/70 water to tow. and like 50/50 or 60/40 for fun. with the tow mix and tow mode i pull strong and run around 1000 deg. on a big hill. thats pullin a 21' boat fully loaded.

If i did get the sct which one would i get? i know about the flash tuner but don't really wanna loose my grab bar for gauges. it helps getting into my truck (6" lift)

2005 6.0

how hard is the water/meth to install? i have thought about getting it. how much does it help towing, and how often do you refill the tank?

I would run nothing more than 30/70 mix at any point EVER on one of these trucks. I just don't trust the meth. It's not a controlled burn. It actually burns as the piston is already travelling back down so often times it just adds more heat and not very much power. Most 6.0 owners I see using it run a 20/80 or 30/70 mix, mostly for the water cooling, and just a little meth to keep it from freezing. I plan on doing my own DIY kit at some point here, I will mainly be using mine for cooling and to keep the combustion chamber squeaky clean, especially running on WVO.

SCT offers a few options, if you're buying new, the handheld tuners are the X-cal3 and the SF3. Xcal will ONLY hold 3 custom tunes. SF3 will hold 3 canned tunes and 3 custom. Either is fine, but you want to be using custom tunes. They also sell the livewire, which is what would most likely mount where your grab handle is, it is gauges/tuner all in one. I would get gauges no matter what. Where you choose to mount them is up to you, you can do an over the mirror pod too. There are a few options if you don't want to lose the grab handle.

Shouldn't be hard at all, but it's going to depend on what kit you go with, and where you're mounting everything like the tank and what not. If you're running stock or low power levels, it's not really needed per se. Refill will depend on a few things, like if it's boost referenced or EGT referenced, and at what points it comes on, and how heavy your right foot is, also how big the tank is.:c:

:tu: Agreed!

I haven't had any problem myself with my 06 6.0L with SCT aggressive towing tune. I pull a 28' tag trailer with super comp dragster (8k lbs+) from houston to louisianna/dallas/oklahoma with no problems with temps. EGT doesnt get over 1200 often either.

Just my encounters...

i run on my towing levels, and like he said it depends on where you have it turn on mine is controlled on boost.. starts at 6 psi but u can change it if you want.... i have an AEM stage 1 kit. its very simple to install. i mounted my 1 gal.tank behind my rear seat and ran my hose and wiring through the vent.( drilled a small hole to fit). then my pump on the frame rail by the fuel pump.
