Default Cab off

Shop did my studs but there is a public garage on base with just about every tool a dealer shop would have including air tools and 2-post lifts, and my co-worker is trying to figure out how difficult it would be for the 2 of us to pull the cab and do his studs. How much is actually involved with pulling the cab?

2 guys who know what they're doing, takes about 2 hours.

2 guys who don't know, 8 to 12 hours i'm guessing.

It's a pretty big job. I lay everything from the firewall on top of the engine. Try to leave as much as you can in the truck.

There's a detailed write up from a guy who did this himself on the ORG. He was a competent mechanic, but had NEVER worked on a diesel before. Did the entire job by himself in about 24 hours, and that included taking his time and taking a lot of pictures.

A good tech can have the cab off in 45 minutes. I'd say 3 hours for a first time, just to be safe.

It's 4 bolts holding the cab to the body, then just flopping everything on the firewall over to the engine.

Would you happen to know the link to that thread? He and I might tackle that one of these weekends. Sure beats paying the $2000 for installation like I did

Just go to powerstroke.org and go to the libraries section towards the top, find the 6.0 section, it's stickied right in there, last I knew, haven't been to the ORG in a LONG time, don't plan on going back. I know at one time there was write ups for cab off and cab on procedures too. Should be able to find it pretty quick with some searching on there.

Pulling the cab is easy i can do it by myself in 45 minutes.
remove the 19mm nuts by the rad support, 7/8ths and 15/16ths cab bolts need a 1/2 inch drive air ratchet to snake under carpet if ext or crew cab, remove the master cylinder place on intake, remove the cac tubes, remove the radiator (dont have to remove shroud behind fan or fan either have pics to prove) unhook steering linkage remove degas bottle, remove ground on fire wall remove tranny linkage at tranny, (undo the bracket) undo the transfer case linkage if manual), Remove the ground at the pass side of cab going from body to frame, remove pcm to ficm cable, remove the heatercore hose from top of intake, remove a/c condensor connection (condensor and intercooler ride up with cab, undo tranny cooler lines, and undo e brake cable (grind the dimples off with a die grinder and push the cable ends towards each other with a pry bar if it doesnt wiggle lose, use an air hammer and hold the lock bracket with pliers and pops 1 end off) and thats about it off the top of my head... Oh and of course steering linkage (lock the steering wheel first or you will be replacing a clock spring)

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Oh and the power steering lines at the master have to be undone.
