Nope, collect used veggie oil, filter it, then dump it into my vegistroke tank. It's an entirely separate fuel system. No processing it into bio though. I didn't want to have caustic chemicals in a garage/house that I rent, so instead I bought the vegistroke system and just run veggie oil straight. You can read some of my posts in the alternative fuel section. I have detailed pics of my filtration setup in there as well.

Yep. New kits are about $4k. However, with bio you have to keep buying stuff over and over. I am buying nothing at all, I pick the oil up, filter it, put it in my truck and go.

The only issues now are finding oil! The renderers are cut-throat with this business. They'll just drop a grease dumpster off at the restaurants and go in and offer $.50 a gallon for oil so they undercut me right out. I'm going to have to start paying for some of it now, but it's still cheaper than diesel by far. Diesel in my town right now is still $4.27 a gallon.

I should probably also add that the $4k for the kit, gets you the most advanced, turn key kit on the market for a 7.3 or 6.0 powerstroke. It's fully automated and works on heat/pressure. My mom or girlfriend could jump in my truck and drive across the country without ever having to touch any switches or watching any temps or anything of the sort. Truck does it all on it's own. You could certainly buy/design a system that was more manual control for a lot less money.

dang, but diesel is only $3.60 in my town so im not sure it would be worth it for me unless diesel goes up (diesel is only $.15 to .20 cents higher than gas here)

Depending on how much you drive and how far your commutes are, the system will pay for itself in no time at all. $3.60 is still a heck of a lot more than I pay. I've been getting fuel farther east of here, cheapest I've seen is $3.98 around here. Just this little farm town I'm living in now is expensive as all heck.

thats how it is here, but all the gas stations are close to each other so they all compete for business

dose it hurt your injectors?

Nope, not as long as your filtering process is good. Clean oil with no water is crucial. Water can damage a whole lot, but as long as the filtering is good, it's not an issue.

In fact, good clean WVO (waste vegetable oil) is great for the injectors, it's extremely lubricative. When my truck switches over to WVO engine noise is reduced to almost nothing.

It's sad when we think $3.50 a gallon is a good deal...
