egr delete

iv seen alot of guys on here saying stuff about egr deletes and im just wondering what it is and what the egr does ?

Exhaust Gas Recirculation. Puts your exhaust back into your intake. So your truck is pretty much eating its own Chit. And the EGR cooler cools the gasses before they enter your intake. The cooler often ruptures which leads to headgasket failure. My suggestion is delete it

Depends how mechanically inclinded you are. It's really not a tough job at all, it is however, time consuming. Plan a FULL day to do it. More time will be needed if you choose to have your intake manifold hot-tanked or cleaned in some sort of way. Not a necessity, but if you're already in there....

It's really pretty simple job though. You may want an extra set of hands for a few parts, like removing the bolts on the up-pipe. Nice to have someone under the truck holding wrench or ratched, with someone up on top of motor holding the other end.

If I was you and did a egr delete and your try k has any kind of millage on it and if you don't have a coolant filter I would replace the oil cooler with the new stainless steel oil screen you are over half way there when you do a egr delete and you wont ever need to worrey about it again if you put a coolant filter on.

I agree with ranger, and while ur at it pull the ipr valve out n replace the screen on it.:tu:
