Yes i would agree before i really got to looking into upgrades for the powerstroke all I heard of was EDGE EDGE EDGE I eaven have a friend that has been a powerstroke master mechanic for over 15 years and is supost to be the best around here and all of his buddys other than me run the EDGE not sure why he likes them i guess he has fallen to he high advertising they have done along with bully dog and banks. There is no way you can put a EDGE, Bully Dog, or Banks tune up to a SCT with custom tunes that are just made for your truck and stragity not like Edge, bully dog and banks that are made for ever truck out there. SCT all the way

i thought rotella-t was the best oil?
Oil choice is a worse topic than tuners, lots of strong opinions. I use the Rotella T-6 and I like it, it's less than $20.00 a gallon at Walmart. I would not go so far as to say its the best as I have not used most of the others. There are several threads on most of the forums on oil, some are pretty good reading.

Talked to innovative diesel. They said the stc x3 $429 out the door with 3 custom tunes. I think I'm gonna go that route. Egr delete kit is on its way supposed to be here by Saturday. Schedualed to bfe installed Monday morning. Wonder how good my truck will run after all this? May even have enough cash for a intake upgrade.

You're gonna shat your pants when you mash the skinny pedal for the first time with Erics tunes loaded up... trust me. The first time I drove mine with extreme street I had a grin all day long. Then wait til you try a boosted launch....

I have used the SCT tunes since 2004 and liked them. Doug from Direct Injection Performance - GoGoDiesel.Com, Your Source For All Things Diesel! is the tuner I use. Can call and reach him 24/7 and he drives the trucks himself, so he puts what he makes on his own trucks and uses them.

Anyhow, 60mph with this origianl Looney tune in I get 22mpg up to 24mpg with a SRW CC 4x4 F350 with 3.73 gears.

I would suggest going with the ARP head studs as a planned investment. Make sure you get some gauges to show you, Volts(for FICM) Oil and Fuel Pressure for the injectors, Pyro for the turbo and boost. Tranny temp is not an issue for our trucks generally.

Doug also has the best 6.0 intake on the market. $1200 for the intake and it gets rid of the egr.

Anyhow, worked with the above mentioned dealers and they are nice, but they have not met my needs as a person that drives the truck daily and uses it as a truck. That is just my opinion and experiance. Take it for what it is worth.

I tried getting some of Dougs tunes to try, emailed him twice now and didn't get a single response. Eric is back to me in less than 8 hrs via email! I'm sure if I called it'd be quicker on both accounts. Doug is a smart guy with 6.0's and I would definitely run his tunes, just kind of gave up for now though.

i think my egr valve is getting ready to take a dump on me. good thing i have the delete kit on the way and will be installed monday morning. here is my EGR valve story tell me if you think it IS the EGR valve and not something else.

Feb. 1- picked up my truck at the dealership and drove it 1 1/2 hours home. no problems.
Feb. 6- heard it was good maintinance to clean egr valve since they are a pain in the *** if they get dirty. found out how to do it and done it that afternoon.
Feb. 8- left my driveway for work and gave it some gas, blew a little white smoke and ran a little rough for about 100 yards then cleared up. after work decided to take a look at EGR to make sure i got it seated properly. noticed that soot had gotten past the gasket on one side and blackened the casting and side of valve housing. pulled valve out and found an o-ring had been damaged when i put it back in on sunday. re-cleaned valve and put new o-rings in and cleaned soot off anything i could see.
Feb. 9(today)- drove to work with no issues other than check engine light on. the light was not on when i bought the truck, only after i started messing with it is when it came on. left from work today and again, white smoke with a little fast cutting out then cleared up after a hundred yards or so. ran fine rest of the way home. on both occasions however, the turbo was carrying more psi than usual. are these symptoms of a failing EGR valve? and before you say it...yeah, i know i shouldn't have f****d with it. but, i was only trying to do preventative maintinance. what do you guys think it could be??

Yes, they are signs of a bad egr. Go out and unplug it and see if runs any differently. Sounds like it is stuck open. Take it out and get up to about 45 and then lean into it up to about 70 and back off it and wait a bit and do it again. Roll into it dont just hammer on it.

Mine did the samething last week as I took it in and replaced the FICM. Put the stock tune back into it and the egr opened and wouldnt close again. Got it to close and unplugged it and put my Kermit tune in and havent look back.

Says you are in IL. Where abouts? I have a house near Champaign.

Only do the above if the truck isnt putting out white smoke.
