Question Narrow Exhaust?

Ok I have a 2003 F250 with a 6.0 in it. I have a super chips performance tune which adds roughly 110hp. Now. My question is... With my exhaust being only like 2.5inches but it's a straight pipe. Is that going to cause me problems because of back pressure? Because I have a leaky header and I'm not sure if that's the culprit or if it's just wear and tear.

It is a 3 or 3.5" exhaust on the 6.0's. Its not going to hurt you at all... A 4" turbo back system is a very nice upgrade and not very expensive...

Hit up the sponser forum!

Thanks CSIPSD, I'll chalk up the leaky header to wear and tear then. Time to get it sealed!

If you have a leaky exhaust manifold I'd get that fixed before anything, as you're not building proper boost like that and causing more heat.

Stock is 3" as far as I know. You can always just do a cat delete and a muffler delete as well, it will sound really nice still and not cost hardly anything. I think you can get both from DFUSER (site sponsor) for around $120. You can also get cheap 4" turbo backs for around $265 last I knew, and 5" for $295.

You shouldn't have any issues with backpressure on a modern turbo diesel as the turbo creates plenty of backpressure and is even considered a "muffler" of sorts by some laws.

You may want to look around at what most 6.0 users are using for programmers too, the superchips is not a well liked model, but that's for another discussion.

Welcome!

I was gonna opt for a bully dog tuner, but they were out of stock and I wanted power right then and there. Lol

I'll look into the manifold and see if it's ok. There isn't any unusual sounds or smells, but I'm no expert. I'll probably have a mechanic take a peek.

Also I don't have a muffler so... Lol

Bullydog is just as terrible as the superchips. That is if you want a safe transmission tune with the best power available. If you just want something mild that might hurt your trans in the long run, then yeah they're great.

As for the manifold, they don't come with gaskets factory, but if you do have a leak you can get them.

If you already have a muffler gone, you can get the cat delete for around $50 I think.

I tested a bully dog tune and it shifted really hard, but the super chips tune shifts really smooth. As far as power and performance goes... I maybe be new to the game but I know better than to get an outrageous tune without first upgrading the transmission.

Look for an SCT for the 6.0... The tranny on a 6.0 is pretty stout, nothing like the old 4R100...

I just looked into the SCTx3, it's looks promising but nobody has posted their personal gains yet. I understand that it's a custom tuner and that thing will vary, but an average or lowest increase so far would be nice to see.
