Default new 6.0l owner questions

2 weeks ago i bought 2006 f250 ccsb had just turned 42k. i have been reading about the egr plugging and plan on pulling mine out and cleaning it when the weather gets warmer. also i plan on flushing the cooling system out what is the best antifreeze to go with. ford gold or fleetrite elc. i also seen were letting them sit can hurt the turbo how long is to long 1 week 2 weeks? (garage kept). put 500 mile on it since i bought it filled it up after i picked it up put in about 7gal next day filled it up again and was getting 14mpg. next fillup was down to 11. drove it 114 highway miles babied it and was only up to 15. i am running marathon fuel and powerservice-white bottle. the guy i bought it from claims to have got 22-23 when he took it on a trip this past summer. could it just be the winter fuel or could it be somthing else. tires are stk 265-70-17 and no tuner.

i would go with the ELC just want to make sure it is ELC Cat 1 rated i just put in the moble elc your want to make sure you pick up a gallon of restor to flush out all of the ford gold sillicate crap out of it and then flush it out a few more times 2-3 with distelled water. As far as the additives go i just use the ford stuff mainley for the lub it has in it to extend the life of the injectors really need to put somthing in it becuse of this low sulfer desel we have know.

The previous owner was bs'n u, powerstrokes do not get that good of gas milege. With an exhaust and tuner you"ll be looking at 15 or 16mpg. Thats if u dont have a big lift and tires, Im lifted on 37's n i get 12.5mpg. Other guys on here might have some tips to get a little better mpgs.

yeah you'll never see 22-23 outta that thing, after all it is a 8,000 pound truck, you can get up to about 18ish with an intake, exhaust, and some good custom tunes

yeah the previous owner was full of it, 6.0's are not mileage monsters, none of em really seem to be anymore from my experience, the new ones with the urea systems seem to do amazing though, we'll see how long that lasts

yeah i was test driving an 04 6.0 for a friend of mine, and the salesman had the ***** to reset the avg mpg thing and we were going 65mph and it read about 25.5 and he said that's what you can expect to get if i were to go that fast at all times, i just looked at him and laughed
