Default fuel pressure regulator

Took my truck in yesterday to Ford for a fuel smell in the cab while the heater was on. Just going over these posts and threads I followed up and checked the turbo tubes/hoses and found one was cracked ( blue hose ) So they went to replace is since it was under warranty. Went to pick up the truck 2 hours later and they told me the Fuel Pressure Regulator O ring went bad. They fixed that also no charge since it is also under warranty.
The question I have is if there was a drop in pressure will that creat more problems down the road? Just reading some of these topics about injectors going bad with drop of fuel pressure. Anything that I should know about and go back and ask them at Ford?

BTW my next buy is fuel pressure guage as I know thats a must on these dang 6.0s

well you do not want your fuel pressure to drop below 45psi if you do you are starting to destroy your injectors.

well your o ring was leaking so you were losing pressure but i dont think your pressure went down too too bad. and this is why we dont ignore problems with our trucks but i think you'll be ok

if you run a higher pressure than 45 would it give you more mpg

i have installed the air dog two kit and left it at the factory psi 45

can go to 65/70 psi

Factory is 55psi. + or - 5psi. 45 is getting dangerously low. I just installed my fuel pressure gauge last week, turned the key and got 35psi on diesel which would drop to 25psi on the throttle (stock tuning). Brought it in, needs a new fuel pump and 4 injectors right now.

ouch. Glad you got the gauge in now rather then later.. Hopefully next week Ill run over the hill to Oakland to the 4x4 shop and get my guage. Aint going to trust no dang 7 cent O ring anymore.

And thanks all for the responses. I think its ok but still smelling fuel. Could just be fromm what did spill all over. Taking it to the carwash and cleaning the engine tomorrow.
