You wont be disappointed with either one. HES EQUIPMENT, what's your budget, that will help a lot. Bare minimum, I'd do coolant filter, headstuds (with proper machine work to get the heads flat), oil cooler rebuild, and EGR cooler/valve full delete setup. Pretty much what Mudstrokin said. Nothing wrong with the Ford coolant, but there are coolants out there that cost less and last longer so it's a smart thing to do if you've already got it apart.

It's not really the coolants fault... excessive heat causes that. If there was no EGR cooler on said truck, do you think it would still be a problem? How about with a coolant filter? Even switching cooalnts will still cause issues without a coolant filter. Not only does the silicate fall out, but the sand from the block is still there too.
I get your point though, and I plan on using the Cat coolant myself. Good topic to discuss though...

If there's no cooler on the truck i couldn't say as i've seen no test for this or testing that shows a specific temp that the silicates gell. I do however know that the ELC coolants are good for 500k-1m miles and I'm pretty sure don't have the silicate problem. I'll be switching to CAT too...

alrighty thanks guys, what is the STC fitting?? Ok so im for sure going to do the EGR delete and oil cooler, my new motor has 84,000 mi on it if im not gonna chip it do i need to do head gaskets and studs?? all im going to do is intake and already have 4" MBRP exhuast?? Plan is to get it going and do some minimal advertising and sell it. So i could have it a few months or a year who knows?? What do you think... Thanks guys your a big help.

If you're going to keep it stock and sell it, I wouldn't bother. Though if you advertise on the boards here, it will be a good selling point.
STC is snap-to-connect fitting on the HPOP. They're notorious for breaking. It will cause a no-start issue when the motor is warm. Once it cools down, fires right back up.
