6.0 kiddo thanks for posting something up. Haven't had a chance to read it yet, but I'm not an oil expert anyways.

Maybe Heath will chime back in... hint hint.

Here's the artical I saw. After reading and looking at the way the Injectors work and are built, they are some High Tec stuff. I may start thinking I don't want a "C" engine in my truck if I could just get a few more mpg...

No problemo Mdub! I was looking around on the same oil forum for a VOA on some full synthetic AmsOil 15w40. I had no luck finding one though. Heath would you have access to a VOA of AmsOil 15W40 full synthetic and rough prices? Im always looking to get the best, most affordable oil in my truck!

Sorry it took a while to repsond. Busy weekend. As for VOA, I assume you are just looking for zinc and phos numbers for anti-wear properties? I do have some numbers on our pre CJ-4 oils:

AMSOIL Synthetic Motor Oils Phosphorus Zinc Level
Level (ppm) (ppm)
HDD Series 3000 Synthetic
5W-30 Heavy Duty Diesel Oil 1266 1379
AME 15W-40 Synthetic Heavy
Duty Diesel and Marine Motor Oil 1267 1377

this didn't copy and past well but the first number is phos in ppm and the second is zinc.

I'll pm you a price

PS, I do know that a zinc number is not a direct correlation to wear protection. I've seen it in number comparisons at a meeting before, but I am having trouble finding it. If I come across it, I'll post. There are a lot of factors that go into a good oil and it's ability to provide max. protection and zinc content is just one. "Don't put all your eggs in one basket" so to speak

Thanks for the reply Heath and thanks for the PM! Im going to do some more reasearch before my next oil change. I think I might get a UOA on my mystic around 5,000 miles and see how well its doing after that long of a time period. Ill make sure to keep you guys posted on any info I find interesting!

Good idea. The report after 5k miles is more important that what the oil started with IMO. If it starts high in some categories that's all well and good, but if it drops faster than others by the time 5k miles is up, that doesn't help much right? Let us know how you make out.
