I've been averaging 17-18 city and hwy combined. I do the odometer reset every fill up, this last time around it took 33.4G and the odometer read 592 miles. I rarely open her up full bore, usually I'm granny shifting at 1800-2000, easing the clutch out when leaving a light and using CC at 55-60. I bought the BullyDog Watch Dog driving coach and it says the same thing. Tell my instant MPG which ranges from 4-31 (31 being usually when I'm coasting and 4 when accelerating). It is teaching me to drive like my grandmother. Lol.

Right.... So you have more done to your truck than just a chip? Because I highly doubt an SCT is enough to outrun a charger.

It's a programmer Get it right! haha. No chips for 6.0's.

I don't know anything about chargers, but I know my truck consistantly outruns my little brothers 02 mustang GT, which has an 01 saleen motor, with almost every bolt on part imaginable (shy of a charger), and an auto trans. I destroy him off the line, but after that we run about dead even, I don't pull on him, he doesn't pull on me.

OH sooooorrrrrrrrrry!

The reason I find it hard to believe, A SRT8 Charger with a good driver is a mid 13 second car. Most 6.0s I know of with just a programmer are low 14 seconds. Not saying he didn't beat him, just that the Driver of the charger must have been sleeping.

Most modified diesel will kill just most any stock car off the line. It would take a well setup street car to match a Diesel's launch.

There are reg cab 6.0's in the low 13's on tunes only. I think there was one truck in particular running 13.0x's, but it was a reg cab short bed job, that was tuning only though.

Most run high 13's/low14's. I'd expect a crew cab to be 14. Every truck is different too and some strategies are faster than others it seems.

True. There is a big difference in weight between a regular cab and a crew cab.

But a 450 HP truck that weighs 7000lbs vs a 361hp (counting a 15% derate and the OEM #s are correct) 4000lb car with better aeros?

I can see it being a close-ish race. Nothing that could be defined as "blowing the doors off" though.

Edit: another thing, Those trucks in the low 13s are probably better tuned. Granted, there shouldn't be much difference between one stock truck to another, but I don't think an out of the box tune could be considered "optimal" for every truck.

That really low 13 is a custom truck since it's a reg cab short bed. It's all weight savings there with regular custom tunes.

As far as your comparison with weight and HP, lets not forget tq as well. Those power numbers seem close, with double the weight, but if we use tq instead of HP, the numbers seem a lot closer. A boosted launch will do wonders when racing from a dig as well. With a roll-on... yeah not so much.

Peak torque isn't that important in a drag race. Having a wide power band is important. That is one area where a Turbocharged anything will have an advantage.
