Default 6.0 help

hey guys new to the forum need some input on my truck. so lately my truck has white coming from the exhaust it smells like diesel fuel. i have been to the dealership for egr valve, #2 glow plug, and a reflash all of which have worked for a week then the white smoke would come back. as of yesterday my tuck has been hard to start and when it does start i am getting white smoke and have diesel fuel from my exhaust. i have suspected a bad injector that is stuck open that passes the injector test done by ford. i was also able get a small container of the fuel that came out of my exhaust that i will be taking to ford on tuesday. anyone have input one what the problem can be?

egr cooler possibly if it is bad the oil cooler needs replaced also
to check the egr cooler jack up the rear of the truck pull the egr valve and let it sit over nighte is best but 3-4 hours should do then look in the egr port and if there is standing coolant/water in there the cooler is bad

Well if the white smoke is sweet tasting/smelling it's coolant, but since you're saying it's fuel (which usually will burn your eyes or irritate you), then you're probably right, an injector. The spool valves inside the injectors are notorious for sticking in these trucks. If the dealer is of no help, search for "Rev-X" on here. The stuff literally works wonders.

i'll have to do that tomorrow and see what happens. does the egr cooler, and oil cooler have anything to do with how the fuel system operates?

The oil cooler and egr cooler should have no real play in the fuel system. If the EGR cooler fails though, it can go right into the exhaust and burn out, so you would be getting white smoke from that. That's why you should see if it's a sweet white smoke or a burn your eyes white smoke. You should be able to tell right away what it smells like.

I got my Rev-X online. I believe that's the only place you can get it for now, unless you're close to someone who sells it!? It's a pretty new product. I tried it in my truck and it's amazing how well it works. I've never seen an additive actually make a noticeable difference before, but this stuff is just amazing.

i just had another thought about my current situation. could a bad injector cause glow plug to go bad? since i had the #2 glow plug replaced could it be possible that the #2 injector is bad? opinions?

I wouldn't think so, but I suppose it's feasible. You have to remember the glow plugs and the injectors are IN the combustion chamber on these engines. It's crazy to think what they're subjected to and then it makes you wonder how they last as long as they do.

Is the truck throwing any codes? Does the smoke clear up if the truck warms up or does it stay smoking the whole time?

You had the glow plug replaced, was that diagnosed at a dealer or something? Was that issue completely resolved or? I wonder if the wire harnesses' have been damaged in anyway. I'd go over those with a fine tooth comb too.

no codes and no CEL either. yes the smoke would clear up sometimes and other times it would still blowing out the white smoke when the truck was at operating temps.

yes i did have the glow plug and egr valve replaced at the dealer the said it failed some test they have given it. it did fix my sluggish acceleration problem i had but it only seemed to last a week then the smoke would be back again. then i had a re-flash which work for about a week then it brought me to my current problem.

a bit of a update here the dealer said that my injectors are all good. for the liquid that was coming from exhaust the tech told me that it was oil and moisture mix. is there a difference between water and moisture that allows the oil to mix with the moisture? also the tech told me that my turbo seal is leaking which is allowing the oil to pass though.

Usually a leaky turbo seal (which isn't very uncommon) is a blueish color, not white. Moisture is white yes (water = white smoke). Seems unlikely you're seeing that much smoke from just moisture. Since they've admitted the turbo seal is leaking, have them fix that and then see what happens after...
