Default Homemade Ram Air

Has anyone cut the plastic that separates the tube on the front of the air filter housing and the grille out to increase air flow? If so how did you go about it and how well did it work?

Get a big hole saw, a drill and a dremel. Have fun!! This was the first mod I ever did with less than 600 miles on the truck!!

How big of a difference did it make?

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Also should I cut on the vertical slat side of the grille or the or on the horizontal side?

i used a dremal tool and a deck of cards. trace the deck of cards and cut. i also found that it increased the volume of bugs and leafs in the air filter so i covered the hole with a piece of hardware cloth with a piece of screen from a screen door. works good.

After notching the fiberglas, I ditched the front of the OEM air box, this helped with my mpg since I had already switched to 35s when I did it. No, I am NOT getting 20 mpg, but it was an improvement.

I haven't had any problems in the rain, but mud racing that my club does is COMPLETELY out of the question!
