A buddy of mine has a 03 ford 6.0 diesel and he wants to know if there is a silencer ring in the turbo that he could take out to make it louder? In my dodge i was able to do that, but i'm not to sure about the powerstroke 6.0. If you guys have any idea or if theres a different way to make the turbo a little louder fill me in please

Their is no silencer ring in the 6.0s. It's a cummins thing. If he wants it louder get an air intake and a 4" straight exhaust

03 6.0 turbos are one of the loudest screaming factory turbos I've ever heard.

 

he said his dad has another pick-up same year and same motor, but his turbo in his dads pick-up is way louder, the only thing thats different is that his dads has a different air intake and i think he said it was a airaid, and my buddy has a s&b intake, nd my buddy's is straight piped with factory exhaust, and his dads has a catback system with a performance muffler, would jus that exhaust make that much difference you think?

 

If his 03 is not loud as hell then that turbo has been replaced with an 04+ 6.0 Turbo. Those 03 Turbos as insane loud.

Yeah what lukes said. The intake never made a noise difference from what I can tell. Exhaust is where it's at... It's the compressor wheel on the exhaust side of that turbo that is making all that noise, that's why they changed them in 2004 and then again in 2005. From what I understand is they had a lot of customers complaining (obviously no one from this crowd!) about how loud the turbos were and changed them.

 

My '03 has already been named "The Airplane" by everybody I come in contact with. LOL
