Weird
my 05 f-350 makes this wierd noise whenever i hit a bump. its like a clanging noise like something is loose. the truck drives fine. ive check out the front end and from what i can tell everything seems fine. someone said it could be the ball joints maybe? if so what how much would i be looking at to get them replaced? any ideas?
is it in the front end? check your exhaust, me and my buddies 6.0s both lost a factory bracket with the stock exhaust and our exhausts were backing around whenever we'd hit a bump or something
Ball joints: with a jack stand under the axle, grasp tire at 12 and 6 positions, push with one hand while pulling with the other a few times. If you feel excessive movement, you're a winner of some new balljoints.
Is it lifted and/or has the track rod or it's bracket been removed from the frame? I went through this when I lifted mine, had to re-torque the upper track-rod and the drop bracket. If that sucker comes loose again and I'm welding it to the frame!

thanks for the response. yea its in the front end. ill have to check it all tommorow when i get off work. its not lifted but i do have larger tires on it. it has 18 inch wheels. would it make any diffierence if i put 17s on it? ive been thinking about it and wheels and tires would be cheaper.
ive checked everything not sure what im looking for in when checking the bushings. im not a mechanic by any means. but theres nothing loose, jacked up the whole front end. i cant find anything. guess it will just have to go to the shop. thanks for all the help!!!
Before you completely give in, this is how I found my loose track rod mount: have someone watch the suspension while turning the wheel from lock to lock. My buddy saw the bracket slopping around. Can't hurt.
i was checking out PSN earlier a guy with similar issues said to change my front hubs. how labor intensive is this? he said it took about 20 minutes so im guessing i may be able to do this myself??
