I've been dreaming of a 6.0 Excursion for some time now. I am wondering if and what the differences are between model years of the 6.0 engine through 2005.

Why yes there are! According to Wilkipedia, "there were many running changes to the engine".

What year would you choose if you had a choice?..........Why?

Each year had it's own problems and positive attributes. Pick your poison. If you take time to read the 6.0 Bibles at the top of this forum you can find out the running changes made to each year and make your own choice. Each year can be upgraded to better suit your horse power addiction. Hope this helped

Did the excursion get the suspension updates like the super duties did? IF they did, 05 would be best since it's almost a completely different truck. I do NOT know if the excursions changed though...

 

id get an 05+ cuz they look better... but as mentioned earlier every year has its own possibility of problems.. good luck

 

i'd get an 05 + year. thats when they started to iron out the kinks in the 6.0 engine.

 

im pretty sure the excursion had leafs all years of production. the 03 had a better egr cooler, and a louder turbo. the 05 had stc fiting issues and more prone to wiring chaffing but the tranny was updated in later models. it is saod that 03-04 trucks will make more power for various reason like turbo sizing and tuning capibilities

 

I disagree with the 03 having a better EGR cooler? Why is it better? I've seen both types fail.

The 03 turbo is better for noise yes!
