Default Troubles...

Hey guys, I have got some wierd things going on with my truck. First it shut down on me going down a road. So I had the fuel filters changed and a week later it would not start up while I was at the dump taking my trash off. I tried it a few times and it just would not start. I then turned the key over enough to use my pmt and turn it up to performance and it started. I got home looked under the hood and noticed there was a lot of battery acid on the nuetral battery clamp on the drivers side so I took it off and noticed that the clamp was broken on the bottom side but still making a connection. I dont know if this would have anything to do with it but thought I would let you know. Can anyone shed some light on what might be going on.

I would get new connections for your batteries ASAP, then try it again. The FICM needs a constant 48 volts to fire your injectors, could have easily been part of your issues.

I dont know if the 6.0s have problems with the CPS like the 7.3s but thats kind of what it sounds like.

That sounds like it could be part of the problem... if you fix that and it's still not wanting to run when hot. I would check your STC fitting i believe is what it's called. they're known to go bad and not let the engine run when up to operating temps

This all makes sense. The cracked battery terminal being loose, allowed it to arc and burn a hole in the top of the battery. Replace the cable, clean off the top of the battery and use a dab of flashing cement (tar) to seal the hole in the battery. Make sure the rest of your terminals are tight as long as you are under the hood. Low voltage = No start.

Have your batteries load tested. If they're old it might be a good time to just replace them. Weak batteries are thought to really strain the FICM and burn it out prematurely.
