Lucas Transmission Additive
Hey everyone
I had the transmission serviced about a month ago. It's operating fine, but every now and then get a bit of a rough shift. It's an '04 with 180 000 Km's on it so its not old but its not new either. I've been told a bottle or two of the Lucas Transmission Fix will smoothen it out. Has anyone used this product before, does anyone have a better recommendation?
Also I'm assuming that to put it in, I'd have to take a bit of fuild out of the transmission first to add the additive so I don't overfill the tranny?
As always, any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Cheers

Lucas makes good stuff for transmissions. They have two different kinds. A fix and a conditioner, I think it is. The fix is a bigger bottle and very thick, so you would probably have to take a small amount of fluid out. The conditioner,IIRC is a quart or less and you shouldnt have to drain any fluid out. A little bit over full wont hurt anything. I have seen the tranny fix keep a tranny on its last goin for another 10k. That what I used in my old bronco when the transmission started actin up after i bought it. I changed the fluid and it didnt help, added the tranny fix and it helped alot. Not 100% but that was 5 years ago its still runnin.

I use the Lucas No-Slip/fix in everything, manual and autos. It's conatins VII's with antioxidants and maybe some FM's, not sure. Can't hurt, only help, just use only the recommended amount, not too much.

I'd be careful mixing anything into the Ford transmission fluid. Seems like it was a very specific fluid for a reason. I would definitely research it out before just throwing any in.

is the tranny fluid a special FORD ONLY item, I'm getting ready to change mine, on the 5-speed torque shift the torque converter does not have a drain plug ... correct?. I've used lucas additives in my engine oils and tranny oils for ever in my other cars and trucks and had great success, don't know about the fuel stuff?
