well the choice is up to you mostly i drive a 7.3 everyday and i love it. I know people who drive 6.0's everyday and they love them to. as far is performance goes you can get more power out of 6.0 with just a programer. The problems with the 6.0 are not that bad and can be fixed. a full egr delete would be my first move after an sct live wire programer. a friend of mine has an 04 6.0 and pulls a skid steer every day and has 200,000 trouble free miles on the stock engine and trans. In my opinion the horrible stories you here of are just luck of the draw. diesel power magazine had some good articles on solving 6.0 problems and bang for the buck power adders.

Get a Duramax haha jk. go with the 7.3 if you must get a stroker It will be hard to make payments and fix the sick.oh if you do get bad luck and get a bad one.

what would be the best upgrades to be in the 550-600 hp range?

well my mom is buying it for me as my graduation gift so all i have to worry about is gas and insurance not the actual cost of the truck so thats good

well a regulated/return fuel system head studs, gauges, injectors, highpressure oil pump, turbo, exhaust, intake, built trans . not sure on exact size and everything but thats kind of a general list. I am sure it will be expensive.

ok first...the 6.0 has more power potential (in my mind) than the 7.3...but it breaks unless you fix alot of stuff (thats very expensive)

list to get to 500-600 hp on a 6.0

built trans, injectors, turbo(s), HPOP, fass/airdog, intake, exhaust, tuner with custom tunes, intercooler, guages (EGT, fuel pressure, boost, trans temp, and some others that i can think of). depending on ur egts u may need to do a little water/meth injection to keep em down. nos is always an easy way to gain power...um theres more that i just cant remember
