My 06 short bed was listed as 29 gallons. I've never put more than that into it even when filling the neck.

Mdub run it down to the "E" and then the light will come on keep running for a few more miles and when you decide you are really scared of running out of fuel then start looking for a fuel station and try filling it up to the filler neck. Not being sarcastic and trust me I have been at te scared step on the freeway in stoped traffic and prayed alot.

i've been down that road before. a couple of us went out to ohio for a wedding a few years ago and i drove. filled up the truck in the morning before i went to work in the woods, worked all day, met the boys and we left. got out in to ohio at 10pm on E in farm country with no diesel station in sight. finally found a place to get it after asking a tanker truck driver who delivered gas and had not a clue and alot of driving on fumes and a prayer. fun time though.

Thanks for the specs Senior btw where did you find them because before I got feed up and did the test myself (and needed to drop tank anyways) I looked all over for them and could not find anything? I think that may be the actual tank but I always go to the top of the neck when I fill. Cheers all and thanks for the info any one tell me if I can mount the 38 gal. tank under my standard bed need more fuel for long trip coming up.

I did once and the truck started shutting off so I put the shifter into neutral and coasted up to the pump. Still didn't get that much.

I will never let it get that low again anyways, that is just terrible for the injectors.

I've been doing my research for over a year now on these trucks and it's out there, just a lot of searching and this site has tons of info. If I can't sleep at night I'm on here looking S**T up. A couple of places:

http://www.ford-trucks.com/specs/200...uty_Specs2.pdf
https://www.fleet.ford.com/truckbbas...essd-ms_06.pdf

the second one has 49 pages of info, but they both have specs for F-250, 350, 450, and 550
