Default Turbo Lag on a 06

I am looking buy an 06 f350. I have driven a couple of them. I can't figure out why some of the trucks have significant turbo lag as opposed to other trucks?

Do all the ford 6.0's have turbo lag? Is this something you just get used to? Oh and yes, I let it warm up and drove it for quite some time.

no the vgt. variable geometry turbos are supposted to get rid of lag. the vains in the turbos could be sticking or egr problems. its hard to say. how many miles on the truck/ trucks??

The truck has 51,000 miles on it. I know the design aspect of the variable vain turbo. I had it on my 04 and with that I had to have two turbo's put in prior to 25,000 miles. What's worse is they reflashed the computer and killed a lot of HP. I went to the Edge system, but it never got rid of the lag. It was just a rocket at 2000 rpm and above.

I just don't want to get into the same problems with this truck. I have checked with the dealer on this truck and he mentioned something about an EGR cooler being plugged or some type of cooler? They said bring it in a for $175 they can diagnose it. By then I own the truck for better or worse. No thanks I'd like to figure it out prior.

my o4 has alot of lag on take off but about 2000 to 2500 rpm and up it will plant you in your seat i put a sct tuner on it and it help it a little i think its just a poor design of a turbo me and 5 of of my friends all have 6.0 and they all do it i thought there was something wrong when i first got my 6.0 cause i went from a dodge then to a ford.but its just the 6.0 my 7.3 don't do it

it should not have lag. some lag with exception but not like your explaining. need to see if it has a p0299 code. if so i would say the vanes are stuck-binding at times. a plugged egr cooler would not cause lag. a egr valve could cause it but i would say there would be black smoke with that. if the vanes are stuck half way its like having a partialy opened waste gate. they close when you take off to build boost quicker. $175 sounds very expensive just to diag a lack of power. tell you wont buy it till they fix it.

look at the intercooler and the passenger side at the seam and see if theres a orange or blue seal hanging out or if you see it the intercooler is blown out enough to lose 3-8 pounds boost until the turbos spooled up
